In a special series of episodes, Tony and Tayo investigate various conspiracies which, if true, would be real bombshells! In this episode, the chaps consider the dreaded Illuminati.

Founded in Bavaria in the 18th century by Adam Weishaupt, an anti-clerical professor who wanted to limit the interference of the Church in public life, the secretive (or even secret) organisation distrusted anyone over the age of 30, because they would be too set in their ways. We can trace modern ideas on the Illuminati back to the book, "The Illuminati Trilogy", written by Robert Anton Wilson, a proponent of Discordianism (the belief in anarchism aimed to cause civil disobedience through practical jokes and hoaxes).

Tony shares with Tayo a wide swathe of his esoterica; knowledge which he has garnered from only goodness-knows-where, using powers of observation, logic and deduction which occasionally completely flummox Tayo. Have we reached the point where the government should ban smoking altogether, or is smoking a human right and it is up to the individual to choose?

New Zealand has begun a move towards a TOTAL ban on tobacco. New Zealand lawmakers are imposing a full smoking ban by 2025, and the law will prevent residents born after 2004 from buying cigarettes at all.

Tayo reminisces that a similarly misguided effort to force people to quit drinking alcohol in the United States propelled the malevolent criminal organisation, the Mafia, to new potency, in the process corrupting politicians, judges and police forces wholesale. Ultimately, America abandoned the failed enterprise of the prohibition, and everyone - except, it seems, the New Zealand legislature - learnt the bitter lesson that it is impossible to force people to abandon addictions. Tayo further questions the ethics and morals of what he sees as a serious human rights violation. Aren't adults allowed to make up their own minds on how they treat their bodies (as long as they're not hurting anybody else?) Do New Zealanders still live in a free country?

Behind the scenes, Tony and Tayo chat about this and that. This time, they swap a sense of foreboding and non-specific anxiety. Something a bit different in this Extra Bit. Here we showcase an American ex-police officer who sheds alarming light on racist shenanigans going on all across America involving that nation's police force. We are doing this in continuation of an earlier show, "Can America cure its racism?" If you follow us closely, you will recall that Tony was optimistic, and thought that indeed America could cure its social disease, but Tayo was adamant that America could not.
