The Tome Show

The Adventure Building seminar by WotC at GenCon 2010 was probably my favorite at the time. It was lead by Rodney Thompson and combined the efforts of Bruce Cordell and Chris Perkins where they, with audience participation, built the idea of an adventure.

Be sure to call in with your questions about Dark Sun or Psionic Power and I'd love to hear your GenCon stories. The Tome's Biz-Line is 919-BIZ-TOME or use the widget below.

R.A. Salvatore had a panel where he showed a trailer for the new video game he's working and then answered questions about it, as well as his work in the Forgotten Realms, and his own world of novels DemonWars. He discusses why he wants to kill Elminster, apologizes for ruining the Drow for everyone, and discusses how he owes his career to luck.

Sarah Darkmagic's Tracy Hurley helped me with this recording of the Design and Development seminar by WotC at GenCon 2010. Part one was released a few days back, be sure to snag that one for a listen. There's a lot of talk about Essentials and other design questions.

Expect a lot of audio this month between all the GenCon audio plus Dark Sun. I'm looking for your comments and questions on those things, plus your GenCon stories on the Tome's Biz-line at 919-BIZ-TOME, or use the widget below.

There are several things in the works for this month and I'd like to hear from you about which seminars you'd be most interested in hearing next. I'll start a thread over at the forums for that purpose.

And our GenCon story from this episode is from Phil "ChattyDM" Menard.

Pick of the Episode - Realm of Terror

This year at the WotC Preview at GenCon they reviewed stuff we already knew...and then told us about the new stuff. Like Ravenloft, a bunch of new card sets and mechanics, more boxed sets, the new Player's Handbook: Heroes of Shadow (notice it is NOT being called Player's Handbook 4...that seems gone), and new print Forgotten Realms material that I mentioned in last night's audio release. For the details have a listen and enjoy.

Oh, and that loud mouth you hear yell out all the time and generally make a lot of ruckus...that's Matt James, you've heard him on the show before (and he had a product announced with his name on it).

This audio is split into two parts, but I will release them both tonight so you can hear all the news. So make sure you go back and get both episodes.

Lastly, don't forget to swing by our sponsor. You can't be shopping here at GenCon like I am (don't tell my wife) but you can get pretty much anything I can get by heading over to...

In the World of Forgotten Realms panel at GenCon 2010 the find people at WotC, including James Wyatt, Ed Greenwood, Susan Morris, Bruce Cordell, and a seemingly endless parade of freelancers and other guests we learned about up-coming releases for novels, Living Forgotten Realms, DDI articles, and...PRINT game books supporting the Forgotten Realms!

Check it out!

Part 1 of the Design and Development Seminar by Wizards of the Coast. The whole seminar was 2 hours long, but I can't do episodes that long without having technical problems. So I'll give it to you in two parts. Here's part one and part two will come out probably after the con is over unless I can't think of a better recording to give you tomorrow night (although maybe I'll give you more than one recording a night during the con...if you want it let me know).

In this episode I got a preview copy of the novel, Elminster Must Die! releasing in hard cover on August 3rd, 2010. I not only review the first Elminster novel set in the 4e version of the Forgotten Realms, but I spend most of this episode talking to Ed Greenwood, author of the book and creator of the Realms, about this book and other Realmsian things.

This is the episode that got crashed. First, Mike Shea crashes Matt James, Quinn Murphy, and myself reviewing the Demonomicon. Then Matt James crashes the interview I was conducting with his brother, and author of Demonomicon, Brian R. James. Meanwhile, there is also crashing from the audience as we introduce the Tome voicemail line (919-BIZ-TOME).
