  • The Why Of Your Podcast With Sonya Looney

In this episode, Eric Graven sits down with Sonya Looney to cover how she has taken her podcast from 0 to a top 100 podcast.

Here are the key takeaways from the episode:

User Feedback: I wish more people talked about this with podcasts. Talk to your audience! They are tuning in each week to listen to you talk. By having a conversation with them, you can hone in your content and realize who you are speaking to in episodes.

Your Why And Personal Growth: The least talked about aspect of a podcast. Growth as a host. We do not get practice talking one on one with people. Phone calls are rare, so we have to cultivate our ability to listen and ask good questions. Throw on awesome guests and a podcast can become an amazing growth tool.

Quality Content: Invest in a microphone, invest in an audio engineer, and watch as the quality of your podcast goes through the roof. Not much more to say, just go do it!

  • Leveraging Groups To Grow With Roman Prokopchuk

In this episode, we have Roman Prokopchuk on the podcast! Roman is the host of the "Roman Prokopchuk's Digital Savage Experience", where he finds out what people had to overcome, to be what they are today.

    Top Take-Aways:

    • Smaller Guests Win: Roman has found that smaller guests can actually perform better than guests with millions of followers! They have better engagement, more loyal audiences, and are willing to share and promote your post more than the big guys.

    • Why Reviews Are The Best Metric: Unsolicited and honest review is one of the best metrics for your podcast. Not only do they give you real feedback, but people who leave a review are inspired. Unfortunately, sometimes negatively. Those inspired people become your biggest promoters.

    • Post in groups: This one is so simple and it is something I use myself. Join every single facebook and Linkedin group related to your audience or podcasting in general. Then post and shout your show from the rooftops in all of them. This is an easy way to get awesome awareness, it just takes leg work. P.S. try and help others in the group too, don't just spam your show.

  • Creating A Podcast Tribe With Shawn Anthony

In this episode, we have Shawn Anthony on the podcast! Shawn is the host of "Schools Over...Now What?", where he helps former students discover their gift.

    Top Take-Aways:

    • Creating A Tribe: By saying our honest opinions on podcasts we attract the people who form our tribe. This sounds simpler than it is, sometimes our honest thoughts scare us and we would rather keep them hidden. Shawn explains that he would rather attract people who believe what he believes, rather than get likes from people who don't know the real him.

    • Telling Your Story: Starting a podcast was a way for Shawn to get his story into the world. We all have one to share, it is what led us to podcasts in the first place. So don't be afraid. Share your story, passion, and mission with your audience. They will become more loyal to you as a host and help you spread your message.

    • Growing Outside The Podcast: One of the best ways you can grow a podcast is to do speaking engagements. They let you send large audiences to your podcast all at once. How awesome is that? I know, most of us don't think we can get speaking engagements. In reality, it's easier than you think and it's worth trying. In a worst-case scenario, let's say you cant. That's okay! It just means you have to start talking to people around you and sending them to your podcast one by one. It takes longer, but it still works.

  • Landing Huge Guests With Andre Haykal Jr.

In this episode, we have Andre Haykal Jr. on the podcast! In just one year, he has grown his podcast from 0 to be in the top 100 podcast list. Andre is the co-host of Real Talk University, where he explores opportunities that college students can take outside of the classroom.

    Top Take-Aways:

    • Consistency: You have to be putting out 1-2 pieces of content across all social media every day. People are not just going to stumble on your podcast. You need to go out and attract your target audience by getting their attention on social media.

    • How To Land Large Guests: A big guest can give you the initial momentum to grow your podcast. To get a big guest, even if your small, you will need to be concise and persistent. Reach out to people on Instagram, and make it as easy as possible for people to come on the podcast. Explain your podcast in a sentence, the time limit and how you will record, add value to the guest, include and send a Calendly link for easy scheduling.

    • The Interview Model: Andre believes that a lot of the wrong people are trying to do the interview model. To fix it, he recommends that people niche down further than they think is necessary. For example, Real Talk University did not just go after entrepreneurs. Andre went after college and high school students interested in starting a passion outside the classroom. That is specific and makes your interviews different from everyone else.
