Pinch, punch, first of the month - it's the first of October and we have a mixed September to look back upon, starting with that horrible 3-0 defeat at Billericay Town on Saturday.

It was a bad day in Essex but with injuries and no Deon Moore, Jimmy Ball has not been able to name a consistent team so far this season.

With DT still away, Guy Henderson and Richard Hughes are joined by Clive Hayward and David Hammond for this week's podcast. We hear from Jimmy about last week's game and the forthcoming FA Cup tie at Tonbridge Angels - and so much more, including the manager's thoughts on the 'Manchester City situation'.

It's official, Torquay United are ripping up the cup competitions this season - with wins in the FA Cup and Devon Bowl in the last week, and the draw for the Trophy to come.

So it's back to the day job for the Gulls on Saturday with the long trip to Billericay Town in the National League South.

We hear from manager Jimmy Ball about the cups and the trip and what state the squad is in. And, with a few injuries still hanging round the squad, he tells us to expect a new defender to be announced, probably on Friday.

And, after Clive asked the question, there is a definite answer about Louis Dennis' involvement this weekend.

It’s a week of transition for Torquay United, following on from a Bank Holiday weekend to forget.

Just one point from the six on offer over the weekend was not the outcome the Yellow Army had in mind, but after days of soul searching and recriminations, it’s time once again for the team to do their talking on the field of play.

With two more tough games coming up in the next few days, the Yellow Army Podcast hears from manager Jimmy Ball about the challenges the squad has been facing, and what they might do to finally get HMS Win The League back on course.

On the subject of transition, two of the club’s best players have left the club since the last edition of the Yellow Army Podcast, and there are still question marks around other members of the squad.

After that disappointing 2-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, Torquay have a busy bank holiday weekend with Hampton & Richmond Borough at home on Saturday and then the trip to National League South new boys Farnham Town on Monday.

So there is a lot to discuss for Guy Henderson, Richard Hughes and Clive Hayward - with Dave Thomas in the room next door doing his Retro Gulls duties.

Well, what a game that was. Torquay United completely dominated a Weston-super-Mare team that came to Plainmoor for a point - and almost snatched all three. It was a tale of two saves at the end as the game remained goalless.

Now we go to Dagenham & Redbridge for another BIG game, even though the season is only in its opening weeks. Dagenham will be another huge test for United there.

It's all about the trumpets today on the Torquay United Yellow Army Podcast - the trumpets and the referees and the missed chances.

Torquay began the season with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Horsham at a packed out Plainmoor on Saturday - but probably should have done better considering the chances they created. The referee also comes under the microscope after missing a penalty and disallowing a goal - amongst other things.
