It’s a week of transition for Torquay United, following on from a Bank Holiday weekend to forget.

Just one point from the six on offer over the weekend was not the outcome the Yellow Army had in mind, but after days of soul searching and recriminations, it’s time once again for the team to do their talking on the field of play.

With two more tough games coming up in the next few days, the Yellow Army Podcast hears from manager Jimmy Ball about the challenges the squad has been facing, and what they might do to finally get HMS Win The League back on course.

On the subject of transition, two of the club’s best players have left the club since the last edition of the Yellow Army Podcast, and there are still question marks around other members of the squad.

Jimmy Ball was in soundbite mode at his weekly Torquay United press conference this week and we were there to record it just for you.

After that disappointing 2-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, Torquay have a busy bank holiday weekend with Hampton & Richmond Borough at home on Saturday and then the trip to National League South new boys Farnham Town on Monday.

So there is a lot to discuss for Guy Henderson, Richard Hughes and Clive Hayward - with Dave Thomas in the room next door doing his Retro Gulls duties.

We talk about the Gulls, Roxy Thomas and the women's team, and the ongoing saga that is Ebbsfleet United this season.

Well, what a game that was. Torquay United completely dominated a Weston-super-Mare team that came to Plainmoor for a point - and almost snatched all three. It was a tale of two saves at the end as the game remained goalless.

Now we go to Dagenham & Redbridge for another BIG game, even though the season is only in its opening weeks. Dagenham will be another huge test for United there.

It's all about the trumpets today on the Torquay United Yellow Army Podcast - the trumpets and the referees and the missed chances.

Torquay began the season with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Horsham at a packed out Plainmoor on Saturday - but probably should have done better considering the chances they created. The referee also comes under the microscope after missing a penalty and disallowing a goal - amongst other things.

All killer and no filler - Jimmy Ball’s Torquay United squad for the coming season looks ready to take on all-comers.

That’s the verdict from the Yellow Army Podcast crew this week as they look back on Tuesday night’s entertaining friendly against Plymouth Argyle at Plainmoor.

A crowd of more than 4,000 watched the Gulls squad debut their new kit and give their League One opponents plenty of food for thought. A quick and clever Argyle side won the game 1-0, but Torquay’s performance ticked plenty of boxes.

The podcasters run the rule over some of the new faces, five games into the pre-season schedule. Isaac Westendorf, Jake Wannell and Harry Shield (AKA Triallist A) have all caught the eye, among others.
