Elliott Smith appeared out of the Portland rock scene in the early 1990s and quickly established himself as a preeminent singer-songwriter.  Before his violent death in 2003, Elliott, who was tormented by addictions and repressed memories, created a remarkable song catalog of painful, heartbreaking lyrics which continue to inspire and haunt his fans, family and friends.
