The scheming Baron Morgarath is drawing other power-hungry knights and barons to his banner. King Oswald is wasting away, and, if gossip can be believed, Prince Duncan is causing havoc in the north.
Halt and Crowley set out to find the prince, uncover the truth, and reform the weakened Ranger Corps. Once-loyal Rangers are scattered across the country, and it will take determination, skill, and leadership if they're to come together as one. Can the Rangers regain the trust of the Kingdom, or will the cunning Morgarath outwit them at every turn?

Gift
This was a Christmas gift for our daughter. As far as we know, this is what she wanted. So what else can I say..its a book??
Very good
It was a great addition to the Ranger's apprentice series. It may not be as action last packed as the others but it was still very good. If you have not read the series I would not recommend this book because you might not find it as riveting.
I really enjoyed that Mr
Another well written, moving and gripping book in the Ranger's Apprentice series. I really enjoyed that Mr. Flanagan has started an "Early Years" section of this series. After reading the entire series and references to past deeds it was really wonderful to see more about the start, well re-start of the Ranger Corps. It was an adventurous journey to see how the "elder" group of rangers who have been typically secondary characters in the original portion of the series come to life and start building their legacies we see in the original series.
2 thumbs up from my 12 yr old boy
My 12 yr old boy loves the Ranger's Apprentice series so from a 12 yr old's perspective, 5 stars.
Great book
I always love John Flanagan's books. Well written and a pleasure to read. He keeps the story interesting with just enough to keep the reader on edge and guessing.
