He soothes Neal and subjects him to a brutal test of his ability to trust and submit. Neal passes with flying colors, and begs the harsh but evenhanded Martin to choose him...but will Martin choose to take on a difficult prisoner, or leave him to fall into the hands of a dangerous sadist?

I am not exactly sure what I think?

I am having some difficulty writing this review; I am not exactly sure what I think? At 1 hr, 9 min it is hard to get much of a feel for a book.

The book is made up of extreme sadistic torture practices. The eventual goal being to reform the prisoner through severe pain, punishment and discipline. The prisoner is to learn to submit to such practices.

The goal of the author is to provide dark erotic fantasy material. I am okay with dark erotica and also fine with male/male erotica. I am aware that this novella is not meant to be romance. However, without some sort of emotional connection it was difficult for me to find the eroticism! To call this kind of severe torture BDSM does not seem correct to me. BDSM without romance or love still involves responsibility. It is a type of sexual orientation, not a torture method.

I was pleased that the main character does receive a more humane handler at the end---one who admits to sadistic intentions to cause severe hurt, but does not plan to cause harm!

The narration was well done. This book was given to me for a honest review.

Liked it and want more

This is the first time I listened to a hard BDSM story. Now I want to know what's going to happen to Neal next. Will there be other characters? I'm definitely interested in the next " chapters."

Not for me

I did not like this book. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but what I read certainly wasn't it. I'm no prude and can read some seriously kinky and sadistic stuff. But this was too much. I felt actual pain in my stomach. This wasn't even about pain and pleasure, it was pure pain.
