The Transition

You know what I love about this episode? It was very unplanned. The week was a little dry but we found a TON of great things to discuss: a new album from an obscure artist, an age old question in hip-hop, and a lot of politics (which always is a fun topic).

This is a little different from our usual episodes, but we hope you enjoy!

Another great episode of The Transition incoming...but that's nothing new!

On this week's episode we discuss A LOT of music: A new album of the year candidate: Spilligion, the 'King' of the R&B genre, and more! But along with that lighthearted discussion we have to speak about more serious things, namely Breonna Taylor. Her case's verdict was handed down and no surprise...they failed.

Where does this leave justice in this country? Where does this leave black people? We'll attempt to address a few of those questions...

Music recommendations: Shawn Smith's 'Till Death Do Us Art', Deante' Hitchcock's 'Better', Caleborate, Chris Stapleton - Cold, Reason - Sauce ft. Vince Staples

We are on a ROLL! This is the last week I say that, but come on 7 weeks in a row?! That’s unheard of in the history of The Transition...

Okay now that the gloating is out of the way, Episode 27! The memory lane episode!

We discuss some of the albums, songs and overall years that made us fall in love with hip-hop. There are some GEMS in this episode so make sure you listen to the whole thing.

Also, make sure to drop a five star rating on this one!

The Transition Ep. 26 is here and with it we bring one of the best debates we’ve EVER done!

Kendrick Lamar’s “good kid, m.A.A.d city” compared to J. Cole’s “2014 Forest Hills Drive”. Two albums that helped to catapult these artists to the forefront of modern-day rap. And we’re here to break them both down for you all!

From the themes, to cadence, to subject matter; these albums tell beautiful tales of the past. Both the lighter and darker sides…

Enjoy the show!

The Transition Ep. 25 is here! Aren't you just so proud of our consistency?!

Anyway, on this week's episode we have a combination of the two amazing halves our podcast!!! Music and society merging together to make an amazing topic: How Hip-Hop influences the understanding of black culture.

With the BLM protests fresh in our minds maybe this is the best time to discuss how much the actuality of black culture is misinterpreted in today's world?

We cover a bunch of "mini-topics" within this one so make sure you're locked in and don't miss a thing!

Episode 24 is here!

And the topics are as interesting as ever. For the first half of the show we discuss the SUPER popular 'sad-boy' rap culture. It does some things right and a lot of things wrong unfortunately. We also call back to a few of the albums we reviewed in the past few weeks as well!

But in the second half of this show, we have to get into something much more serious. Police brutality, and the most recent example of it: The Shooting of Jacob Blake. We'll examine the area of Kenosha and what it reveals about the US at large, the subsequent shooting of two INNOCENT protestors by illegally-armed teen: Kyle Rittenhouse, and what this all means going forward.

We hope you enjoy this week's episode of...The Transition.

It's been too long! After months (almost years) of us being away, Alex and I decided to restart the show. Why?

The people needed us of course!...Not really. But, there was so much going on, and we felt like we had some value to bring. So just like that The Transition is back!

On this episode, we get back into the swing of things by doing a longgg episode. We discuss where we've been and what we've been up to, as well as our usual topics: Basketball, Music, Society, and whatever else comes to mind!

Enjoy the show! And make sure to give us a FIVE STAR rating while you're at it :)
