  • The Book of Ruth | TCBS

The Tree Church Bible Study podcast exists to help the Tree grow deeper in Scripture — taking an in-depth look through the books of the Bible, one passage at a time.

This series opens a brand new study on the Book of Ruth with Pastor Stacey Crawford, Pastor Chris Reed, and Pastor Zach. Before diving into the text, the pastors cover everything you need to get started: authorship, literary genre, historical setting during the time of the judges, and the key themes running through all four chapters — redemption, faithfulness, God's sovereignty, and the surprising role of an unlikely foreigner in the line of King David and Jesus.

  • Acts 28: 23-31 | Meet Paul on a Certain Day

The Tree Church Bible Study wraps up its study of Acts in this final episode. Pastor Stacey Crawford, Pastor Chris Reed, and Pastor Phil Venrick pick up in Acts 28:23 as Paul spends a full day teaching the Jewish leaders in Rome. Some are persuaded. Others are not. Paul responds by quoting Isaiah's 700-year-old prophecy about people who cannot see or hear what God is doing - and the weight of that moment carries all the way into the present.

The group works through what hard-heartedness looks like in everyday life, why Paul's announcement about the Gentiles is both beautiful and sobering, and what Luke's open-ended conclusion is really asking of the church. The episode closes with honest personal reflection on what Acts has meant to each of them and what it looks like to keep walking as part of the story God is still writing.

  • Acts 28:17-22 | Paul Preaches at Rome Under Guard

In this episode of the Tree Church Bible Study, Pastor Stacey Crawford, Pastor Chris Reed, and Phil Venrick continue their study of Acts 28. As Paul arrives in Rome and gathers the local Jewish leaders, the group explores a question that runs deeper than it first appears — why did so many people fail to recognize Jesus as the Messiah?

Pastor Chris walks through the historical expectations of first-century Judaism, showing just how different Jesus looked from what centuries of hope had anticipated. The conversation moves naturally into honest personal reflection on the ways we miss God when he does not move the way we expect, and closes with a timely discussion about forming opinions with humility and holding them with an open hand.

This is a rich and honest episode that connects ancient scripture to everyday life in a way that is both grounding and practical.

The pastors explore the details Luke includes along the way — including the significance of the ship's figurehead — and reflect on what Paul's long-awaited arrival in Rome meant for him personally and spiritually.

The conversation then moves into a discussion on God's design for the church. What does it mean to be part of a local body and the greater global body of Christ? The pastors speak honestly about where the church has gotten it wrong and offer a grounded call back to humility, unity, and the shared mission of making Jesus known.

  • Acts 27: 39-44 | The Shipwreck | TCBS

In this episode of The Tree Church Bible Study, Pastor Stacey is joined by Pastor Anthony and Pastor Chris as they continue through Acts 27 and the dramatic conclusion of Paul’s storm at sea. After weeks of chaos, the crew finally sees land—but instead of a smooth landing, the ship runs aground and begins to break apart.
