What were some of the highlights/takeaways from your book reading and study guide this week?
What do you commonly look to money to provide for you (happiness, security, identity, etc.)?
Read Matthew 6:21 and Matthew 6:24 and answer the questions below:
In what ways have you seen yourself being mastered by money? Serving money?
How have your desires to serve money (what money brings), hindered your desires to serve God?
How have anxiousness and fear played a part in how you put God first in your finances?
If the command to give to God (first, faithfully, generously) is FOR your betterment, how might this change how you steward your money?
Group Leader(s): Take this time now to introduce the “Direction and Destination” activity to the group.
Week 2 Next Steps:
Read Chapter 5 in the Beyond Blessed book.
Complete Chapter 5 in the Beyond Blessed study guide.
Complete Chapters 1 and 2 in the Beyond Blessed study guide (if receiving your study guide for the first time).
Complete the “Direction and Destination” Activity before next week (details below).
Direction and Destination Activity Instructions:
Using the front inside cover of your study guide or a separate notebook, write down each of the questions (see questions below).
Take time during the week to fill in your responses to those questions.
Be sure to include God in this activity. Let Him shape your answers.
If married, complete this activity together. Pray about it together, discuss it and determine together what your responses will be.
Direction and Destination Questions:
What destination would I love to reach (i.e. freedom from debt, living a generous lifestyle, etc.)?
Why do I want to reach that destination (i.e. for the health of my family, want to be generous like God, want to be free of the stress of debt, etc.)?
What directional steps do I need to take to reach my destination (i.e. create a budget, stick to the budget, reduce debt, start tithing, etc.)?
