Support the show (http://trianglehomeschoolresources.com/village)Get hands-on with art, history, and more!
We all know the value of teaching history, and study after study has shown that art education is good for kids' overall learning, but we never seem to get the time and materials for those projects.
Listen in as Penny Mayes (Take Time for Art) and I discuss why it's so important to take time for those hands-on experiences! Not only will you create cherished homeschool memories, but your kids will make learning connections in reasoning, logic and problem-solving!
We had a great time discussing everything from catapults to coloring pages! We hope you enjoy and learn along with us!
**NOTE: During the conversation, Penny and I chat about using her art packs for high school credit. We mistakenly say there are 15 hours involved, but actually each art pack is about 30 hours of work, which is generally equivalent to .25 high school elective credit.
ALSO, the document that I asked Penny about that correlates some of the popular history curriculums to her art packs is usually only available at in-person events like conventions and conference, but Take Time for Art has generously shared that with our listeners! If you're interested in finding out if your curriculum is on the list, visit The Triangle Homeschool Resource Center website, podcast episode 5 for that download!

Are you feeling overwhelmed and like you just aren't doing enough?! Zara Fagen, PhD, author of Minimalist Homeschooling, has words of encouragement for you! If you identify your priorities and focus on the things that really matter to your family, you will make better use of your time, energy and resources. Minimalism in homeschooling isn't about getting rid of all of your curriculum and art supplies; it means getting rid of the "shoulds" and comparisons that clutter our minds and hearts so that we can help our kids be who they are meant to be.
