The True Source of Hatred Towards the Church

There is no denying that the Church has a chequered history. From the Crusades and the Inquisition to more recent scandals involving abuse, these events have undoubtedly tarnished the Church’s image. Many people rightfully feel hurt and betrayed by these actions. Yet, it’s worth noting that numerous secular institutions also have dark pasts. Companies like Mercedes-Benz, which supported Nazi Germany, and IBM, which facilitated the logistics of the Holocaust, continue to operate with little protest. Similarly, historical atrocities like the transatlantic slave trade, largely driven by economic powers, do not elicit the same enduring animosity towards the institutions involved.
