To worship is to honour God for He is and what He has done, giving Him praise for both. The New Testament Doxology recognises that God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit must all be worshipped alike - you can’t give God worship without also giving worship to Christ. If you fail to also worship Christ then you have missed an essential part of worshipping God.
