The truth behind dieting...
By definition, a diet is simply a way of eating. But diet culture has really turned food into a negative thing, putting tons of restrictions in order to make yourself smaller, for women to conform to the way we "should" look. What makes it more confusing is that new "diets" are coming out all the time. We are making progress with acceptance and body positivity, but the diet plans are years behind.
Diet culture is so much more than a size. The societal image of the "ideal" woman over the years is oppressive. We are getting better now at including different skin colors and features, but the emphasis is still unattainable for so many of us.
There's a difference between being better emotionally, physically, and emotionally and wanting to change your body because you don't feel good enough. It's so important to fuel your body in a way that makes you feel empowered!
