Welcoming our first guest of Season 2, Sumaya joins us on the show to share her insight after doing a very thought provoking social experiment. As an activist and community leader with a major in neuroscience and sociology, Sumaya makes a positive impact with anyone she meets and creates safe spaces for self love for women in her life, as well within her network. I had the pleasure to sit down with her this week as she opens up to us on what personally lead her to stop using IG's beautification and face altering filters. We discuss the subconscious impact these filters can have on our self esteem, how they gradually became apart of our mainstream culture, the way social media evolved the plastic surgery industry and when does these virtual "enhancements" racially cross the line. In a judgement free zone we dive deep into these topics and I personally discuss my own battles with filter usage for the first time.
