A great WW2 story by wonderful author!
Not Quite What I expected
The book I received was a British first edition hardback. For some reason I was expecting the cover on the web page and the article I received was nothing like the picture. I am quite happy with what I received as the edition was in a dust jacket that I could remember seeing years ago. I am looking forward to reading the book as a companion to "Stolen Journey" by Oliver Phillpot who was one of the original Wooden Horse escapees!
Worth the effort
Lately I've noticed an increase in Swedish fiction, with likes of Jo Nesbo and I really enjoy the stories and story lines. The way Sweden, and Norway (and the likes) are described makes me feel like I'm there in person!
This book did not disappoint in my humble opinion.
This is the second book in the series, and unfortunately I've not read the first book (yet). But I promise I will rectify that little mistake soon!
In this book we meet investigator Danny Katz. He is trying to track down his former drug dealer. The dealer and his girlfriend have gone missing and nobody seems to know where they are, and why they disappeared.
The investigation of this disappearance were totally worth the effort of trying a new author!
Highly recommended.
and in the finest way. The first piece of greatness was the ...
When I started THE TUNNEL my initial thought was, âjust another Scan-mystery novel.â Boy, was I wrong, and in the finest way. The first piece of greatness was the spot-on characterization of all the actors. Jorma, the criminal, Katz, the hero and investigator, and last Eva, the informant. The descriptions of these players made this book extraordinarily enjoyable while at the same time made me think and ponder. Ponder because the writer shows that people are neither good or bad, but likely right in the middle. And that is the attraction. Placing yourself in the shoes of criminals, investigators, and informants.
Drug addiction and the ever-growing sex industry are at the heart of the matter in this engaging novel. Nothing about this book is predictable, especially the denouement. Even if you are not a huge fan of this genre, I urge you to read THE TUNNEL, you will be happy that you did.
Noir Thriller
First Impressions: I have never read any Scandinavian Thriller fiction before so this book was my gateway into that branch of books. Just from The Tunnel I can say that I am both impressed and a little of scared of the genre.
