Javie Barcinal, a 2024 Global Landscape Forum Mountain Restoration Steward from Antique in the Philippines, shares his journey from volunteer to founder of Dulungan Youth, an organization named after the critically endangered Rufous-headed Hornbill, locally known as Dulungan.

Javie highlights the importance of grassroots involvement, inclusivity, and traditional ecological knowledge in conservation. He believes that local communities and indigenous peoples, with their deep connection to the land, are crucial in leading conservation efforts.
