It's always better to see individuals and not groups; to see individual people, not groups of priests, pagans, or politicians.
When we talk in homogenous ways regarding large groups of people - like "everyone," "everybody," or "all of those people," the reality is it can never be true because not every person in that ecosystem, whatever that ecosystem, is the same way.
In this 5-minute and 35-second nitty-gritty episode, my challenge is to see HUMANS, not Humanity, because it will transform you and others. See individuals with individual stories, hopes and dreams, trauma and pain, and individualized experiences instead of wrapping it all up and painting everybody with the same brush.
When I see "Humanity" and I see all of Humanity's problems and challenges, this is far too overwhelming for me. What can I do about Humanity? Nothing. Now the first "human" I can do something about is me. And the first human that you can do something about is yourself.

This episode is an UNCORK conversation with my friend Craig Minchin.
Craig and I explore how his journey from a profound and dark soul-crushing personal and professional crisis led him to find emotional healing, revive his Mr. Incredible, and as a bonus, find the best job he ever has had.
Craig shares on a deeply personal level the pain and the pleasure of his journey that began with him asking and answering some difficult questions and making some daring life changes. And how the journey into a new career or new season is fueled by one of the most potent forces that energize humans through difficult and dark times ... HOPEFULNESS.

This 5-MINUTE & 49-SECOND mini NITTY-GRITTY episode explores these provocative questions and challenges;
Why must we stop providing quick answers and start asking better questions to embrace and move into our uncertain future? And why must we embrace ambiguity and the truth that we are rather dim-sighted?
BECAUSE: there are very few things that we truly can control around us. We have no idea what will happen 2 days, 2 minutes or 2 seconds from now. And, because the only thing CERTAIN is UNCERTAINTY.

My 100th EPISODE. What a ride. What a journey.
Let's celebrate our uniqueness, continue breaking the evil spell of sameness, and remind ourselves of what we can discover through failure if we don't "turtle up" and say, I can't... I can't move forward.
For those of you who listen regularly, I want to say thank you. Thanks for being part of this community, this UNCOMMODiFiED journey.
Thanks for joining a group of people who are listening in and challenging themselves to stand up and stand out for all the right reasons and not be a dime-a-dozen kind of person. To influence the world in which we have authority for the good of ourselves and others. And to break the evil spell of sameness, not just being a "Homogeneous Human" but by understanding that we are unique Homo Sapiens with something to contribute.

This episode is an UNCORK Conversation with Business Mentor Jeff Chesebrough.
Jeff is the CEO of Innovate Niagara, a one-stop resource for entrepreneurs in high-growth sectors that includes a network of business incubators and service providers.
Our conversation explores some very practical ways that we can incubate the ideas, dreams, and passions of others. And the role that mentoring and asking provocative questions play within this.
Jeff and I examine the main reasons that cause entrepreneurs to fail early in their endeavours and what helps them find success. And we discuss why "hustle" is the talent and passion is the "stock" everyone wants to invest in
Grab a beer and raise your glass to the entrepreneurial spirit that moves us all forward.

In this 4-minute and 24-second Mini Nitty-Gritty episode, I explore the wisdom and power that comes to us and others when we live "paradoxically" and play "tug-a-war" with ideas and ideologies.
For us to hold tension in truth, to hold tension in an argument, and to understand the complexity of many things in life, we must stop seeing things as contradictions. Instead, we should choose to see them as a paradox or paradoxical truth.
A contradiction is ideas that are utterly opposed to one another, very different and therefore at odds with each other. More than likely, one is correct, and one is wrong. Now, when I think of a paradox, I see it as ideas that might seem contradictory on the surface, but once you get underneath it, you might find that there is truth on both sides.
We must see it as a "tug-of-war" and pull on both sides of an idea or argument. It's the only way to maintain the middle and find the truth.

Inspired by a recent trip to Atlanta, I reflect on the challenge of MLK for me and you to be "Servants of Justice."
In this 6-MINUTE & 35-SECOND mini NITTY-GRITTY episode, I challenge you and me to not let the feeling that the "little thing" we can do in our world to break the power of injustice is so insignificant that it's not worth doing.
Don't be deceived or deceive yourself ... when many of us do nothing, nothing is done. And when many of us do nothing, nothing changes.
Please overlook the rawness of this episode I recorded on my iPhone out front of the MLK National Parks Museum in Atlanta.

This episode is entitled "Black Dogs & Butter Tarts."
It's an UNCORK Conversation with Sandy Nickel about living well with the "Black Dog." A chat about how Sandy manages her "black dog" (her depression) and her journey in learning how to take care of "him" in her daily life.
Sandy has enjoyed a 20-year career as an IT Project Consultant. She is now providing part-time and fractional Project Management to help small and medium-sized companies thrive and loves working with not-for-profits to help them give back to their community.
Recently, Sandy has taken her hobby and love of cooking and baking and started a new baking business called SNickelFritz Kitchens. Her bakery business has become known for its hand-crafted butter tarts made with pure, simple ingredients that are delivered fresh to your door!
During our conversation, Sandy answers these questions: what is the Black Dog? And when did it come onto your life? What has been the most difficult and the biggest blessing about owning and living with this dog? And, what advice or strategies would you give to help other people who own and live with a "dog" like this?
Along the way, Sandy shares the simple wisdom of "just putting" and how to be careful about what you " consume" and what "consumes" you. Additionally, I share some of my experiences with my mother's depression and a season of panic attacks I endured.

WARNING: IF F-WORDS LIKE FAILURE, FAILING, FUCKUPS, OR FUCKED IT UP OFFEND YOU; THIS EPISODE MAY NOT BE FOR YOU ... BUT YOU SHOULD PROBABLY STILL LISTEN TO IT.
I recently had the privilege of speaking at an event in my local community called "FuckUp Nights." This episode is based on what I shared that night.
These community events encourage and challenge us to share and think about our failures as a way of touching our humanity and entering into the lessons that we can learn, not from our success, but by publicly sharing and talking about our failings and failures.
As I prepared to speak, I asked myself these questions: "if I am going to share some significant failures and failings in my life, what should I share? Why would I share them? And how would I do it in a creative and thought-provoking way?
From those questions emerged this idea: when I was a teenager, I loved albums, vinyl albums at the time. And, back then, those albums had an "A SIDE" and a "B SIDE."
The "B SIDE" contained songs that were not as popular, but the "B SIDE" often had some pretty fantastic music on it as well. And here is the truth, everybody's got a "B SIDE" of their story, of the "album" of their life. I have one, and you have one. But, on social media, on LinkedIn, you will only hear and see our "A-SIDE." You will only hear and see our success side. You're not going to hear about my failures, and I won't hear about yours.
So, in this episode, as I did that night in front of over a hundred people, I will explore and share the "B SIDE," or in this case, we're going to call it the "F SiDE" of my life, the "F SiDE" of my album. The "FUCKUP" side of my album: 7 song titles reflecting on seven significant moments of failure in my life and the one crucial challenge for all who are honest enough to admit we have an "F SiDE" on our album.
MY LIFE ALBUM TITLE:
SONGS FROM THE "F SiDE"
