Bubba comments that the market conditions are not favorable. He begins to answer questions. He talks about the importance of having a defensive strategy. If you trade you must be prepared for adversity. If you are not prepared for when things go wrong you will have problems.Bubba answers a question about how he uses stop losses. He tells the student that with the current volatility levels that you cant trade stocks that have no price movement. Bubba talks about trades that were on the books in the past week and how he handled the trades. March 20, 2015The Bubba Show - 03.20.15Why The FED is LostBubba starts the show off in a foul mood. He expresses his disappointment with the Federal Reserve and Janet Yellen. Bubba states that the FED is spineless, lost and doesn't have a clue at what their next move should be. The FED and the U.S. Government seem to think that they can hide from the problems they created by continuing the flow of the money drug flowing. Bubba shows his disgust by the move stating that the FED has created too many unintended consequences while destroying the middle class.Jane King stops by for a chat Bubba asks Jane what her opinion is of the FED action. Jane seems to be a little disturbed by the actions taken and believes that the FED is of course as well. Jane is worried about the economy as she talks about the differences between New York City and the farming community in Indiana where her family is from. Jane talks about the effects of the strong U.S. Dollar and the negative effect it has on her familys business.Mike McGlone from ETF Securities, a regular guest on The Bubba Show gets into the FED action. Mike feels the FED did what was necessary to help the economy. His views send Bubba into a tirade as he lashes out at Mike indicating how much disdain he has for the FED. The conversation moves on while Bubbas blood boils and he reached for his blood pressure medicine. Bubba starts to convince Mike that the FED is on Fantasy Island and swings Mike over to his side.After cooling down Bubba and Mike discuss the value of precious metals and that everyone should have some ownership of them in their portfolio. March 19, 2015The Bubba Show - 03.19.15Bubba comments on the state of the equity markets. He talks about the ''race to the bottom'' in currencies. He states that the market has only so much space and when that space gets crowded someone will get bumped out. He notes that not everyone can win the race to the bottom. He discusses the effect on the current contango is having in the Oil market. He concludes this segment by warning that something will happen in the Oil market that will drive out participants.Jim Iuorio comments that the Fed promised to have interest rates controlled by the economic data but there is no sign of inflation, so why raise rates now? Bubba agrees with him. Jim comments on the unintended consequences of the rising dollar. If the Fed cuts rates it could cause U.S. exporters to lose their edge entirely and may cause the U.S. to stop growth. Bubba and Jim agree the Fed seems to be in a bind.Bubba plays the tape of his BNN piece on Tuesday. Bubba comments that the markets have been in a strange pattern the past few weeks. They have been ''gapping'' overnight and then they are very stable during the day. He talks about large rally in the Bond market that may be the key number going into the Fed report. He states that no matter what happens that there will be selloff after the report hits the street.Bubba comments that except for the extremely wealthy that there has been no recovery. The middle class has not benefited from the Feds policies and if they raise rates at this time it will probably hurt the employment picture. He describes how he went from his undergraduate days at Notre Dame to his current position. Bubba and Keith discuss the college endowment model and his approach to handling the business of managing billions of dollars of donor funds. Mark compares retail investors returns to endowment returns.Bubba asks Mark about his trading model. Mark talks about the mathematics of loss and how it gets compounded when you begin to lose money. He cites examples of how big of a return you need if you have a losing streak. He talks about the average return in the equity markets over the last twenty years and how he has been able to beat those averages over time. He said that he believes that the majority of the price action is the big hedge funds rebalancing their portfolios. Volume has been very spotty lots of volume in a few minutes and then nothing. The markets appear to be looking for a new direction.Bubba makes comments on how the Central Banks of the world are manipulating monetary policy, and he worries about dire effects of this downstream. Keith agrees that the Fed policy is worrisome, but he differs with Bubba in his view of how the Fed managed the housing bubble. Keith states that the Fed took positive action in 2008 and without the action the results would have been disastrous. Keith maintains that the ''wealth effect'' can be dangerous and that consumers may fall into the same trap as 2008 if they are not careful.Keith comments on the effect of the strong dollar. The benefits of foreign travel, importing foreign goods, lower commodity prices. He then talks about the downside of international trade. The race to the bottom can create a big hole for nations that have the highest interest rates and the U.S. has that distinction. The negative balance of payments must be funded by issuing more debt and this will be a problem.Keith comments on what he wants to do for clients in the Bubba Report. He wants to help average investors understand the link between interest rates and the dollar. How diverging markets affect their chance to make to make money. They are a group of academics and linguists that work with major institutions around the globe. Bubba asks Yoda and Backpack where they see ISIS evolving into. They believe that they are an international threat. Bubba comments on how economic conditions have made them more viable in poor Muslim nations.Backpack and Yoda say that the current administrations policy to stop ISIS can't possibly work. The only way that they can be defeated is to employ the use of Ground troops. Backpack comments that ISIS flags have been found at border sites, at the Muslim communal living camps are training grounds for soldiers. Yoda maintains that the pentagon is being hamstrung by the administration. ISIS can be defeated by our troops.Bubba asks Yoda what is going on with Russia and Ukraine. Yoda maintains that Putin is doing the exact same thing that Hitler did prior to WWII. He is invading sovereign nations with the idea of protecting citizens of Russian descent. He has stated repeatedly that he wants to reform the USSR. Yoda comments on the likelihood of Iran bombing Israel.Bubba comments on the Obama cabinet. He points out that only 8% of the cabinet comes from a business environment. This is the lowest percentage of any administration in the past 100 years. Yoda comments that Netanyahu is correct on his position that the current nuclear treaty talks with Iran are worse than Chamberlains Munich accord. Yoda and backpack conclude the interview by expressing their frustration with the current administration and the lack of military that can deal with a war on two fronts. Bubba asks Jane about the recent volatility and how she thinks that this will affect the market for the rest of the quarter. Jane says that the middle class is not benefiting from the rise in equities. March 12, 2015The Bubba Show - 03.12.15Adam Shapiro Fox of Business comments on his shift in Chicago. He said he likes to cover the automobile market. Bubba asks Adam about the new subprime loans in the car market, he wonders if it could be a problem down the road. Adam believes that it could be. People are taking on more debt than they should and it could create problems.Adam and Bubba discuss the collateralized debt market, is it dangerous? Adam takes a position that it only dangerous if the banks misrepresent the value of the loans. He explains that they can take a ten percent loss level and still make money. However if they put that money into collateralized loans they have no risk. The problem occurs when the value of the collateral becomes overstated and the pools don't perform.Bubba states he is concerned analysts talk up their position. He cites Citicorp and their call of $20 Oil. Adam agrees that banks can cause trouble. He believes the problem is that they can change their mind at anytime and so they have no risk by making a call they probably believe has a chance but is a real long shot. Bubba states that they always upgrade at the top and downgrade at the bottom.Bubba asks Adam about the problems he sees with todays society. Adam believes that society needs to educate youth and make sure the elderly are taken care of. Adam comments on the problems with underfunded government pensions and that they are the financial Elephant in the room.
