If your family life were a playlist, what would today’s track list sound like? Out-of-tune birthday singing, Lego bricks crashing, the fifth call of “Mum!” in as many minutes? Parenting is full of sounds, some we welcome, others we don’t, but each one is a reminder of the stage of life we’re in right now.

One day, the soundtrack will be different. Quieter. Changed. So this pause is about noticing today’s playlist, even the off-key or annoying tracks, because they’re proof that life is happening here. It’s not a perfect playlist, but it’s yours. And it won’t always sound this way.
