Come join the Chalice Choir and soloists of UUCC’s Music Ministry in their annual December holiday music service.  This service will explore the seasonal themes of Christmas and Winter, inspired by soul-stirring songs and spirituals from the Appalachian region of the United States

This meditative service will provide an opportunity to honor the complexity of grief at the holidays. Whether you are experiencing personal or collective grief, let us come together and hold for one another a circle of caring that makes room for all of us to be present and find connection.

The past few weeks have been full of calls to action from every corner, but it isn’t always easy to figure out how to take action. The movement needs all of us – even if it isn’t your role to take to the streets in protest. There are many ways to work for justice, equity, and compassion in our world. We will consider different models for how to frame and engage in the work. Because we need all of us to get all of us free.

A few weeks ago, we honored our beloved dead, taking time to remember our ancestors, whether family, chosen, or spiritual. It seems simple to assess a person’s legacy in hindsight, but much more challenging to consider our own legacy. How will our descendants remember us and how might we be intentional about trying to be a good ancestor.

No matter what happens on November 5, whether or not the outcome of the election is known by the time this service begins, Unitarian Universalists have work to do. Remember that the work of creating justice and equity is neither a marathon nor a sprint, but a relay race. We will reflect together and revisit our personal spiritual grounding.

Our religious pluralism means that Unitarian Universalists hold many different beliefs and understandings of the sacred, and we sometimes get tripped up by words whose meaning we don’t know or agree on. Good thing we all have a Universal Translator that we can use to help us out!
