Join the Turning Circle as we celebrate the longest day of the year with joy and reverence for the world around us.
Primary Speakers: Alex Cauthen-Zach with the UUCC Turning Circle
Chaplain Anthony Jenkins will lead a service exploring the concept of intelligence — how we define it, who we define as intelligent (or not), why we define ‘smart’ the way we do, and what that says about humanity’s highest values.
Speakers: Aaron Hill, Ama Chandra, Anthony Jenkins, Howard County Lynching Truth and Reconciliation, Jing Wang, Melisa Affolter, Roger Stewart and Tom Monroe.
In a joint service with Rev. Angela Wells and our Christ United Methodist Church siblings, we celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride and the holy ground we cultivate together at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center.
Speakers: Haley Fischer, Rev. Angela Wells and Rev. Paige Getty
Rev. Paige Getty offers reflections inspired by the book An Immense World, by Ed Yong. (“But every kind of animal, including humans, is enclosed within its own unique sensory bubble, perceiving but a tiny sliver of our immense world.”)
Speakers: Becky Reese, Kelli Danaker, Linda Adcox-Kimmel, Michael Adcock and Rev. Paige Getty
In the final service of the series about proposed revisions to the UUA’s Article II, Rev. Paige Getty considers our commitment to Justice: “We work to be diverse multicultural Beloved Communities where all thrive. We covenant to dismantle racism and all forms of systemic oppression. We support the use of inclusive democratic processes to make decisions.”
Speakers: Kelli Danaker, Margaret LaFon, Michael Adcock, Regina Verow, Rev. Paige Getty and Valerie Hsu
We will celebrate UUCC’s 60th anniversary with a musical worship service! It will be a collaborative musical celebration, with choir anthems, a special selection by our youngest singers, and rousing hymns, hymn-anthems, and responses. And we will hear reflections from congregants — one who has joined in each decade of the congregation’s life — who will share a special memory of a time when they and the community were thriving (where we are rooted), as well as name something they’re excited about as they imagine UUCC’s future (that toward which we are reaching).
Speakers: Chalice Singers, Gail Thompson Guy, Greg Yakaitis, Jeri Wiggins, Kathy Rose, Kelli Danaker, Kevin Mercer, Mark Brooks, Michael Adcock, Pokharel-Wood Family, Rev. Paige Getty, Rich Dean, The Chalice Lights and the UUCC Chalice Choir
In articulating a commitment to equity, the proposed revision of UUA Article II states, “We declare that every person has the right to flourish,” and we will “use our time, wisdom, attention, and money,” in service of that right. What does Love compel the person of faith to sacrifice in service of equity?
Speakers: Kelli Danaker, Ken Rock, Linda Adcox-Kimmel, Melissa Affolter and Rev. Paige Getty
On this Sunday when we observe Transgender Day of Visibility, and when many Christians celebrate Resurrection Sunday, we consider our UU commitment to transformation, another of the values expressed in the new draft of Article II. Rev. Paige Getty explores what it means to “collectively transform and grow spiritually and ethically” within a tradition that is “never complete and never perfect”.
Speakers: Dori Schatell, Kelli Danaker, Linda Adcox-Kimmel. Michael Adcock, Regina Verow, Rev. Paige Getty, Tim Lattimer and Zach Nelson
The proposed revision of UUA Article II states, “We honor the interdependent web of all existence,” verbiage drawn directly from the current statement of principles. Rev. Paige Getty considers what it means to religiously nurture relationships characterized by care, respect, humility and reverence, with a commitment to reparation of harm.
Speakers: Jillian Storms, Kathy Wu, Kelli Danaker, Laurie Coltri, Michael Adcock, Regina Verow, Rev. Paige Getty, Stuart TenHoor and the UUCC Chalice Choir
