Luke 3 provides a rapid-fire summation of John the Baptist’s part in God’s ministry concerning his role in preparing the way for Jesus Christ.  Nevertheless, this chapter is rich in spiritual truths.  So, open your Bibles to Luke 3 and let’s begin.

On today’s episode we examine the story that is solely unique to the Gospel Luke.  It’s the first Passover Jesus Christ observed, and He’s only 12-years old.  Then, immediately following, Joseph and Mary can’t find Him for 3 days.  Only 12 verses possess these events, but they are absolutely loaded with truth.  

Today we cover verses 21 – 40 of Luke chapter 2 where Joseph and Mary visit Jerusalem.  These verses speak of Jesus’ circumcision and Mary’s obedience to God’s law in offering a sacrifice concerning her recent delivery of the baby Jesus.  Furthermore, two additional people are introduced into the story, who are none other than Simeon and Anna.  A lot of grand truths are presented in these verses so let’s not waste any time and get started.

Our Sunday school recording for this lesson was somehow corrupted so unfortunately this episode is a re-recording of just me alone at the microphone.  Nevertheless, the word of God is still perfect and true, and today’s agenda is to cover verses 8 – 20 of Luke chapter 2. 

Today we look at the very familiar scripture of Luke 2:1-7, which concerns Christ being born in Bethlehem.  We have a lot of notes to cover surrounding the context of these verses, and at the close of the episode we examine what scripture tells us concerning when Jesus was born.  Yes, I’m talking about His physical birthdate.  While covering this you might find it beneficial to look at the notes and pictures provided on our website:  TheUnsearchableRiches.podbean.com.  Examining that material while listening to this episode should prove most helpful.

We bounce through the entire Bible from cover to cover to examine the topic known as The Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ.  Why was He born in this way?  Was this just an impressive display of God’s power or is there a deeper truth afoot?  Open your Bibles to Luke 1 and let’s find out.

Today, in semi rapid-fire style, we examine the second half of Luke chapter 1 by covering verses 39 through 80.  Yes … a lot of verses, but they tell us of Mary’s interaction with Elizabeth and John the Baptist’s birth where his father Zacharias miraculously receives back his voice.  This will lay the groundwork for further discussions following this episode.

Today we pick up our pace through this first chapter of Luke and examine two births prophesied by the angel Gabriel.  Those two births concern John the Baptist and our Lord Jesus Christ. 

We progress forward with our introductory remarks concerning the book of Luke, and then proceed to discuss John the Baptist’s parents:  Zacharias and Elizabeth.  This is, I’m sure, very familiar scripture so we will examine several cross references and topics throughout the word of God to provide further context and understanding to the beginning verses of this Gospel.
