The Unseeing Critics

On this episode of “The Unseeing Critics” Jesse and

Richard take a light dive into a couple different movies for each of them.

Jesse talks about “Nefarious” and “Terrifier” while Richard gives

his somewhat lucid review of watching Possession of Hannah Grace” and “The

Monkey’s Paw”. Richard apologies if any coughing comes through the

microphone, but I’ve been sick over the past week, but am feeling much better.

We also talk with our long time friend and current recording studio resident

Arnold, while we get a call from a friend of ours’ Dr. Tom, and both give their

opinion of Taylor Swift.

Ladies and gentlemen, gather round for a holiday treat! Today, we want to talk about some classic Christmas movies that get us in the spirit every year: A Muppets Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, and A Christmas Vacation. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Why are we talking about these movies? Simple, these are our favorite "must watch" Christmas movies. Well, strap yourselves in, because we are about to give you a comedic rundown on these beloved films like you've never heard before.

Let's start with A Muppets Christmas Carol. Now, who doesn't love a good Muppet show? These puppets never fail to make us laugh, and they certainly don't disappoint in this holiday gem. I can't help but chuckle every time I see Kermit playing Bob Cratchit and Miss Piggy as Mrs. Cratchit. Talk about a power couple! And we can't forget about Michael Caine as Scrooge. Watching him act alongside these colorful creatures is comedic gold. Plus, who wouldn't want Statler and Waldorf as their personal movie critics?

Next up is A Christmas Story. Now, I have a confession to make - I've never actually had a Red Ryder BB gun on my Christmas wish list. However, I can fully relate to the sheer desperation that comes with wanting that one elusive, must-have item. Let's be honest, we've all had our Ralphie moments. Remember when he wore that pink bunny suit? Classic! And who can forget that tongue-stuck-to-a-pole scene? That's every kid's nightmare right there. Poor Flick! But hey, we've all done dumb things for a dare, right?

Lastly, we have A Christmas Vacation. This movie is a hilarious reminder that even the most well-intentioned family gatherings can turn into utter chaos. Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold is a comedic genius. From the disastrous Christmas lights to the squirrel in the Christmas tree, this film captures the absurdity of family traditions gone wrong. We've all had that one relative - you know, the one who shows up uninvited and overstays their welcome? Yeah, we are all thinking of that relative,

So, whether you find yourself singing "It Feels Like Christmas" with Kermit or reminiscing about that time you got your tongue stuck to a pole, these Christmas movies are timeless classics that bring us laughter and joy. So this holiday season, grab some popcorn, cozy up on your couch, and get ready to laugh your way through the festivities with this hilarious "Unseeing Critics" podcast.

Gremlins, directed by Stephen Spielberg, is a classic 1984 comedy that combines humor and horror, at Christmas time, in a perfectly balanced way. The film follows a young man who receives a strange creature called a Mogwai as a pet, but when the creature's care instructions are accidentally broken, chaos ensues as a group of mischievous gremlins wreak havoc on a small town. With its clever writing, memorable characters, and impressive special effects for its time, Gremlins is an absolute gem that has stood the test of time. Billy Bob Thornton delivers a hilarious and captivating performance in the 5-star comedy Bad Santa. This dark comedy follows Willie Soke, a washed-up alcoholic who poses as a department store Santa Claus each year to rob the place on Christmas Eve. Thornton's portrayal of the cynical and foul-mouthed Willie is simply brilliant, bringing both humor and surprising depth to the character. With its irreverent and unconventional take on the holiday season, Bad Santa is a must-watch for those who appreciate edgy and boundary-pushing comedy.
