Being told “don't be too much”, “don’t be full of yourself”, or “how dare you earn great money doing what you love?” Only looking for what’s wrong in your appearance. Feeling strange and squirmy when we get a compliment. Diminishing the accomplishments we should happily celebrate or even apologizing when we do something well. Achieving something amazing and then sabotaging yourself right after.
These are all manifestations of The Upper Limit Problem, and in many ways, it’s the biggest problem almost all people face. At the heart of this issue is our inability to hold more positive energy, to expand beyond the box we were conditioned to confine ourselves in.
It’s as if from birth a message is programmed into us - that there’s only so much succeeding to go around and we might be using it all up, so we must make ourselves smaller and take up less attention.
What if we could change this? What if we could expand to the widest edges of our essence and genius, dare to be in our muchness and stop apologizing for our greatness?
As we head into this new year, that’s the challenge - increasing our capacity for joy, success, love and essence. Dare to say “I’m totally lovable and I deserve to be here.”
In this special episode, we revisit some of our favorite conversations where we discuss the upper limit problem, and how to break through self-imposed or cultural ceilings.
You’ll also learn;
The root of The Upper Limit Problem
Tall Poppy Syndrome and why women diminish their accomplishments
How to change our association with money (it’s not a bad thing!)
How to stop looking for what’s wrong and start celebrating what’s right
