On tonight's episode of Urban News Journal, Marcus Hart breaks down four major local and national storylines:1. Former Governor Chris Christie warns Trump and the GOP that "something bad is coming."2. Global crude oil breaks $109 a barrel, raising diesel and freight costs for Midwest families.3. Rufus King drumline instructor Antonio Kitchens faces three felony counts of student sexual assault—a teacher who previously taught Marcus's sons at Lincoln Center of the Arts.4. An exclusive accountability update on formal open records requests sent to 7 government agencies regarding the Wisconsin State Fair security incident.Join the newsletter: https://www.urbannewsjournal.comContact Press: [email protected]
Sam Altman and Dario Amodei stood in front of the UN Security Council this week and asked for global rules on AI. The White House called it a globalist scheme and walked away. Tonight we break down why that matters far beyond Silicon Valley, plus a week of overnight shootings in Milwaukee, the first real head-to-head poll in the Wisconsin governor's race, new wage and jobs data for the state, an honest update on the certified accountability letters that still haven't gone out, and a Mental Health Awareness segment on the VA benefit gap that leaves veterans with PTSD covering the cost of a service dog on their own.Urban News Journal is independent, objective, and unafraid. Milwaukee politics and justice, Black culture, sports, mental health, and veterans' affairs, covered straight.Get the free newsletter, twice a week: https://urbannewsjournal.beehiiv.com/subscribe?utm_source=youtube#Milwaukee #WisconsinPolitics #AIRegulation #PoliceAccountability #MentalHealthAwareness #VeteransAffairs #LocalNews #IndependentMedia
Tonight on Urban News Journal: Congressman Tom Tiffany's small plane went down in Lake Wausau, and it's now tangled up in the race for Wisconsin governor against David Crowley. AI-generated political ads are already flooding your feed this midterm cycle with no label telling you what's real. MCTS put two bus redesign concepts on the table, and neither one protects everything you need. Milwaukee may start paying drivers back for pothole damage. It's Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and we talk about it the right way. And the honest, no-spin update on those State Fair accountability letters: still not mailed, no fake countdown clock, just the truth.

Tonight on Urban News Journal: an honest update on the certified mail accountability letters, still not in the mail and still not pretending otherwise. County Executive David Crowley signs $7.5 million for opioid recovery, and we're giving credit where it's earned. Eleven Milwaukee small business owners pitch for $5,000 tonight at Rev-Up MKE. Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon somehow land on the same side of a warning about AI. And the Brewers keep chasing history.

Urban News Journal: I sat in on Milwaukee's Public Safety and Health Committee in person, and I'm breaking down what I heard, $6.2 million in MPD staffing funding stuck in compliance red tape, 65 officers eligible for retirement, and a pointed question about civilian hires that nobody's fully answered yet. Then an honest Accountability Watch update on what actually happens when you call the Milwaukee County Executive's office yourself. And tonight I get personal. I'm a father of seven, and I have my own story about checking myself into inpatient care during a mental health crisis, a follow-up to my opinion on the Lindsay Clancy mistrial coverage earlier this week. Plus the Brewers' playoff push and what's happening in Milwaukee this weekend.Urban News Journal is independent, objective, and unafraid. Former Marquette basketball player Robert Jackson just released his first book, "Every Shot Counts, A 30-Day Playbook for Men." Instead of a quiet signing, he turned it into a full community day at his shop, Raising the Bar Barbershop in Milwaukee.
Marquette forwards Royce Parham and Joshua Clark showed up to spend time with the kids. Local artist DezignzBy Ulesha ran face painting. Kids walked away with donated Marquette t-shirts, backpacks, school supplies, and a full afternoon in a gaming trailer.
Urban News Journal was there to capture it. This is the kind of story we show up for: someone from this city who made it out, and came back to give the neighborhood something real instead of just posting about it.

Iran's got a 48-hour clock ticking, the July jobs report drops Friday and nobody's ready for what it might say, Spider-Man just broke box office history, and back home in Milwaukee your bus route could be on the chopping block six days before the primary. Tonight I'm breaking down all four — live, no script hiding, just straight talk with a journalist's edge and a little faith to keep it steady. This is The Urban News Journal — where we take the headlines that are actually moving your life (not just the ones trending for clicks) and break them down in plain English. Tonight: what Rubio's Strait of Hormuz talks and Trump's 48-hour countdown could mean for gas prices, why "inflation cooling" doesn't mean your grocery bill is getting cheaper, what Ariana Grande stepping back from the spotlight says about the culture we've built, and a deep dive into Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley's transit record — the credit AND the county comptroller's audit — as he asks Milwaukee County voters to make him governor on the same August 11 ballot where MCTS cuts are on the line.Drop into the chat while we're live — I'm taking your reactions and your questions throughout the stream, not just at the end.
