Folks. Utah is living two completely different lives today. The north is battling a ferocious cold front, while the south is soaking up paradise. That divide is the headline.

Let's talk about the dangerous wind first, a High Wind Warning is in effect. And this isn't just breezy, gusts could exceed 80 miles an hour in the mountains. That's officially hurricane strength, secure the patio furniture now, or it becomes a projectile. If you're driving a high-profile vehicle, you'll want to rethink that trip through the canyons.

Temperature-wise. Along the Wasatch Front, rain showers sweep in between 7 P.M. and 11 P.M. Temperatures crash to 30 degrees overnight, feeling closer to 23 with that biting wind. Watch for blowing dust cutting visibility on I-84 near Snowville and Tremonton.

Up in the mountains, conditions are nasty, rain and snow showers are likely before midnight. Here comes actual temps of 21 degrees, but wind chills plunge to 21 degrees above zero. With gusts hitting 61 miles an hour, the steering wheel might actually pull from your hands.

Down in Southern Utah? it's a different world. St. George basks in sunny skies and a high of 72 degrees. Winds shift from the west to the northeast around midnight, but it stays mild with a low near 50.

Here's the wild part about the week ahead, while sunday stays cool on the Wasatch Front, topping out at 46 degrees. But then the furnace turns on, by Tuesday, we jump to 72 degrees. We're flirting with record heat Wednesday and Thursday—Salt Lake could hit 81 degrees, which would be the earliest 80 degrees day ever recorded. Down in St. George. Friday could bring a blistering 99 degrees.
