The continent has rapidly fallen to some sort of strange illness. Those affected are prone to fits, mindless gibbering, insomnia, horrible nightmares, paranoia…and hallucinations. Cities fall to their own terror and baseless rage. A small group of survivors have managed to isolate themselves from any large groups where the illness spreads like wildfire. Unsure where to go, they travel where no one else goes. North into the freezing cold. The place silent with ice and snow. Whether this is folly or brilliance is yet to be seen. After all, there must be a reason that no one goes there. To Helvegen. To The Hell Way.

The hamlet of Kyyl Ridge is small and quaint and equidistant from two large cities in the nation of Kryzalta. Winter has set in and resources are sparse. It is necessary to send a small group out to either hunt for food or fetch some from the tower city of Voittyr to the East. Either prospect would be a difficult task, but someone must go and so lots have been drawn. Five drew the short straws and must prepare to head out into the winter storms. Who knows how far they will get and what they might retrieve from their travels... if anything.

The city of Raxi on the coast of Trostein is gearing up to celebrate the night the year turns over. Long Night, it's a time when all the fires in the city are doused for an hour and the inhabitants exchange gifts or throw wild parties. One such party is famous for having an extravagant banquet each year and this year is no different. Rumour is that there is even a special shipment of Maelstrom Honey being imported in just for this very reason. Even better, it's said to be less guarded than normal this year due to staffing problems at Coralfang Manor. That shipment is ripe for the plundering.
