Dave Miller hosts the Final Cup on WMOV. In this episode, he discusses a pair of conflicting stories on layoffs at the Federal Bureau of Fiscal Services in Parkersburg. One says more than 200 people are out of jobs, while another says 80 probationary employees were let go.

Dave also talks about the Ohio Gubernatorial Race in 2026 heating up as Vivek Ramaswamy files the paperwork and an anticipated announcement coming on Monday to launch his campaign for Ohio's top executive office.

It includes comments from Joe Casto of the Western Conservation District, Tim Kidwell and Brian Smith of the West Virginia State Farm Museum, Junior Ables of the Silverton Grange and Beth Southern with the West Virginia Department of Agriculture.

Dave then discusses some of the latest happening at the Legislature, including State Superintendent of Schools Michele Blatt speaking to the House Finance Committee and a delegate and former state employee introduces a bill that looks to abolish the state's Public Employees Insurance Agency.

Thursday was Agriculture and Conservation Day at the West Virginia Legislature. Tom Susman talked with several area residents about their participation in the day.

Joe Stevens has his weekly discussion with John David Johnson, agriculture specialist at West Virginia State University. This week, the topic is how farmers can deal with the wet grounds.

Dave Miller hosts the Final Cup on WMOV. In this episode, he discusses many activities the West Virginia Legislature has faced this week. From the Senate pausing action on the controversial SB 460, which would allow parents to claim religious exemptions for immunization requirements for public schools, to the House Judiciary Committee considering bills aimed to help volunteers in child abuse and neglect cases. Also, the House Health Committee will hear testamony Thursday afternoon on the potential repeal of Certificate of Need and a bill was introduced earlier this week to re-instate corporal punishment in public schools.

Tom Susman speaks with Chris Miller of the Dutch Miller Auto Group about the relief supply drive they are holding at their dealerships, including their two Ripley locations, to benefit those affected by flooding in Southern West Virginia.

Joe Stevens catches up with Kelley Adcock of Main Street Ripley. She tells us about upcoming events in the area and updates us on the capital campaign to raise funds for a new roof for the Alpine Theater.

Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) visited Jackson and Mason Counties on Tuesday. Dave Miller caught up with and talked about what she saw on her recent trip to flood ravaged Southern West Virginia, her visits to Timet and the Walter Smittle Regional Responder Training Center and her plans to meet with the Mason County Commission Tuesday evening.

Dave also spoke with Jackson County Commissioner Steve Westfall, who used to serve in the House of Delegates with the Congresswoman, about the significance of her visit.


And Dave talked with Ripley High students Lilah Hosaflook, Jaycee Kelley and Jackson Vanhoose about their participation in the Jackson County Schools Social Studies Fair Tuesday night.

Tom Susman has a chat with Amber Goff of the WVU Extenstion Service office in Jackson County. She works with the Family and Community Development program and will discuss some projects she's working on, including a diabetes education class.

Also, the debate of Certificate of Need in West Virginia is heating up. Governor Patrick Morrisey wants to repeal it. Hospital officials say it is critical to stay open. Tom revisits the Governor's words on the issue from his recent State of the State address, and gets rebuttals from David Goldberg of Mon Health and Jim Kaufman of the West Virginia Hospital Association.
