We are enjoying this American Sports Story covering Aaron Hernandez. However, we cant help but express some disappointment in the liberties that the showrunner has clearly taken to tell this story. Excited to finally make it to the NFL portion of this story next week. If you want to be a part of this podcast, hit us up with your feedback- [email protected] and we will discuss it on the podcast.
The "Pray the Gay Away" episode of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez looks at his hidden struggle with being gay while playing in the hyper-masculine world of professional football. It highlights how trying to keep his sexuality a secret, along with his troubled past, played a big part in his downfall. We should be transitioning to his life inside the NFL next episode.

Episode 2 of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez, titled "Consequences, With Extreme Prejudice," really dives into the fallout of Aaron’s actions and how quickly things spiraled out of control. In college, Aaron Hernandez got away with a lot when it came to his bad behavior. Despite several red flags, including violent outbursts and run-ins with the law, he was often let off easy because of his talent on the football field. Coaches and university officials seemed more focused on keeping him in the game rather than addressing his actions, giving him numerous passes that allowed his troubling behavior to go unchecked. This lack of accountability set a dangerous precedent, where his stardom overshadowed the need for real consequences.
