While this fact is obvious, often we forget we are thinking. We must think about how we're thinking. This is called metacognition. Without metacognition, we fall prey to bad thinking habits. Bad thinking habits manifest in all sorts of ways:
Taking short cuts.
Making excuses
Believing things that are unjustified.
