The Viking Coaches Corner welcomes back Coach Harmer to close out a great season of LHS wrestling.  Coach brought Bryce and Michael Goodemoot as well as Greyson LaBerge.  Congratulations on a job well done.

This week we have Coach Adrian Almas and players, Abbigail Huisman and Klara McArthur on the show to talk girls soccer.  While recording the show, I felt like it was a followup episode to S2.Ep23 "Empowering the Next Generation." It's amazing the level of staff here at LHS.  You'll hear how Adrian and his staff are teaching the girls to build solid "pillars" to have success in more than just sports.  Then the girls speak of what they have learned from the program.  

The girls team is looking for a few more players so they can get back to having a JV and a Varsity program this year.  The benefit to having two teams is huge for any program and allows for more playing time.  

There is an upcoming "Spring Fling" fundraiser event at the high school that you will not want to miss!

Welcome to episode 27! Kurt sits down with LHS girls basketball coach Luke Farrell and Juniors, Avery Farrell and Ana Grant.  Avery and Ana are finishing up their junior year basketball season and getting ready to move into their last school sport before their senior year.  We know your will enjoy this program.  And if you have a little Lady Vike that might be interested in playing basketball, theres a message in this for them too!

Congratulations to the boys wrestling team as they won their quarterfinals match just prior to record time on Friday, February 27th.  

We wish the girls competitive cheer team "good skill" as they will be in Hudsonville for regionals, today, February 28.  We know that their performances and titles are never based on luck! So, take that mat with your heads held high girls!

Welcome to this episode of the Viking Coaches Corner.  Kurt sits down with Coach Lane Allen along with sophmore, Julianna "Juli" Taylor and senior, Madison "MaddyFen" Fenlong.  The team is headed into the final rounds for girls wrestling.  Juli, MaddyFen, and Peyton Federau were still in the running for titles.  After this podcast was recorded, the girls had their next wrestling matches.  Peyton and MaddyFen both won and will continue on.

During the 2020-21 sports season, the 1975 LHS boys basketball team was inducted into the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame for being the State Champions.  On Monday, February 16th, the 1975 team was honored at a home basketball game for their achievements. After the presentation, the Voice of Lakewood, Kurt Ackerson, got a chance to interview Coach Krause, his lovely wife, and a few of the players.  We hope you enjoy this podcast and take a tip down memory lane to 1 9 7 5 ! !

Kurt welcomes Coach Tim Swore back to the podcast to talk offseason football.  Coach Swore also brought special guest and quarterback coach - Ryan Van Dyke. This is the second year that Ryan has worked specifically with Lakewood and his seventh year running his training program. Ryan graduated from Marshall High School and went on to become a Michigan State Spartan playing football from 1998 - 2001.

Alexis Haskins coaches girls JV basketball. Jamie Krenz is currently a Lakewood school board member. Mallorie Schrock is the U19 girls soccer coach. 

We’ll dive deep into each of their specific rolls at LPS. We’ll also get the laughter rolling. I mean who knew that frog farming could be so rewarding?
