Advent is the beginning of the Christian calendar. During this season, we prepare for, and anticipate, the coming of Christ. We remember the longing of Jews for a Messiah and our own longing for, and need of, forgiveness, salvation, and a new beginning. Even as we look back and celebrate the birth of Jesus in a humble stable in Bethlehem, we also look forward anticipating the second coming of Christ as the fulfillment of all that was promised by His first coming. Jesus is the source of our hope, love, joy, and peace.

We’re about to enter into a season of abundance: celebrations, food, and gifts. It’s a great time of the year but it’s also a time when we lack self-discipline. God shows us in his Word that he is concerned about our whole and present lives (not just where our souls will be in the hereafter). This three-part series looks at what the Bible says about our whole lives and what it means to be healthy in mind, body, and soul.
