Here we are on yet another Monday with another amazing podcast for your listening pleasure! Today we have my jr high and high school math Teacher Cameron Fisk onto the podcast to talk old stories, current ventures, life lessons, the Slave Lake fire, pets and much much more! Just like in the classroom all those years ago this conversation was full of laughs and me and ol Fisky both got in some good shots at each other throughout the conversation! And luckily now no one get mad at either of us for the occasional F bomb! Lol. Its been awhile since I did a solo episode and after the amazing trip back to my hometown last week I knew I had to hop on and tell y'all about it.  Chatted about the trip itself and all the characters along the way, crypto, quadding, hot dog roasts, hockey and last but not least beer!  I also talk a little about what it's like to be unvaxxed in this new world of QR codes and how i'm handling the subsequent negative feelings of being treated like a criminal.  Not the funnest subject of all time but I think it's important to highlight as there are thousands of people with much scarier/tougher stories than mine. To cap it all off I discuss some of those stories as well as some of the more impactful podcasts I have taken in as of late!

Today we welcome back one of my favourite people back to the podcast in my good buddy Brennan Murphy! Bren dog has not only been on the podcast before but has also helped the podcast behind the scenes on uncountable occasions! It was fascinating to listen to our first conversation as the only prep going into this (I was lazy) and how similar we are in many many ways which led to a lot of agreeing. I went into this conversation thinking it would be a big agreeing fest where we continue that theme from last time and boy was I wrong lol! Brennan is a very intelligent individual and came ready to play in this conversation. We battled on many of the taboo subjects of the day and in all honesty I got my butt handed to me left right and center! It was a lot of devil's advocate and hypotheticals but I came in unprepared and never quite got my footing. Even though it was slightly embarrassing, the entire conversation was done with lots of respect and never once got heated or strayed away from two good friends trying to better their understandings of the world we see around us! I cannot wait to have Brennan on many times in the future and continue to learn from one of my most capable and entertaining friends! I hope you all enjoy xoxo!

After months of planning and false starts I was finally able to get my long time spiritual guru and personal guide woman for anything woo woo onto the podcast and it sure didn't disappoint! Denique and I grew up together in slave lake going to the same high school in the same year but never really got to know each other. And in one of the rare positive aspects of the oft maligned social media I was able to watch from afar as the shy quiet girl I knew in high school moved to Vancouver and blossomed into a strong, confident, powerful force of love and positivity! She is chasing her dream of being an artist and it was amazing to be able to ask certain questions pertaining to “the artists life” as well as her personal transformation. We talk mediation, personal truth, ego, religion, spirituality, mental health and many more topics that are old hat for Denique but still rather new to me. For years and years as I opened up to more than the strict material logical world Denique has always been there to answer my silly questions and even when I meet the answers with skepticism from time to time she never judged me but rather met it with compassion and understanding and worked to better convey the point or amiably agreed to disagree to ensure the slave stayed open for more questioning. 

We have always had some amazing conversations and it was an honour to get one recorded for you all to participate in! I’m very thankful for Denique, for all of you listeners and I’m sure this is the first of many special conversations to come!

Cancer affects everyone and everyone in this world. That being said for such a universal reality I could not believe just how little I understood about what it is to truly experience.  So when Ashley Severson reached out to me to share her personal story I was completely ignorant of what I was in for. The honesty and vulnerability she was able to achieve during this conversation allowed for learnings I didn’t know I was missing. I believe this conversation is extremely important and that their will undoubtedly be people who are incredibly impacted by the wisdom Ashley is able to convey.  When I started this podcast one of my goals was to be a positive impact I just wasn’t sure how that was going to manifest but I knew from the moment we began taking that this was going to be a special one and I am eternally grateful for Ashley and also for the opportunity to live the life I’m living.  I love you all and have a great week xoxo.

With the back to back stacked UFC cards sandwiching this week's episode with the wildness that was UFC 267 on Saturday and a possibly even more stacked UFC 268 coming this weekend, who better to have as a guest than pro fighter Randy Mahon! The last few weeks Randy has been giving me private Jiu Jitsu lessons and it has been one of the most rewarding journeys I have ever been a part of, even if I’ve barely dipped my toes in so far. I knew Randy would have to come and bullshit on the pod when our classes inevitably turned to us predicting the upcoming fight card or Randy showing me some obscure regional fight that shows the move he is trying to teach, we often found we were talking more than we were fighting! Randy is an amazing teacher with a great heart that can make anyone feel at home on the mats regardless for their athletic background and everyone should stop by champion gym ASAP to check out all the different classes they have available in both stand ups striking as well as jiu jitsu and self defence courses (their kids courses are next level as well!)

Well it’s been a while since I have had on an old Lister friend, which felt like it was becoming a staple of the podcast so today we rectify that with my good friend Emma Russell! Not only is Emma a bad ass rock star but she is also a nurse currently doing a rural nursing stint in her adopted home of Newfoundland! It was great to hear all about where Emma’s obsession with Newfie’s came from, how her new home is welcoming her as well as her hopes and dreams for the future. We mostly talked music and old stories and catching up on how far her musical journey has come since she first showed me the few songs she could play on guitar all those years ago back in residence. I always knew Emma had a great voice and could shred a piano but since then she has evolved so much as an artist and has really grown into the rockstar she always (loudly) proclaimed herself to be! People often ask me what my favourite episode of the podcast so far is and more often than not I point people to the first episode with today’s guest Cody Twinn. I have been working ever since to get Cody back on the podcast to share more of his unique insights and well earned wisdom. You always have to worry with an episode that good that subsequent ones might not reach the same heights but yet again Cody was able to bring completely new ideas to the table while also expanding expertly on the paths already trodden. It sure is humbling to speak for a living and to have someone with such innate skill and articulation walk in and absolutely destroy on the mic time after time! I know I tell you to listen to all the episodes (because they are all great!) but I really really mean it this time! ;)
