Pick a movie, any movie, I won't look... now your Jack Nicholson movie has to be.... astonishing, brilliant, revelatory, mad, insane, dramatic, heartbreaking, quiet, angry, brash, crude, mischievous, deranged, p*ssed, scary, funny, amused, amusing, delirious, fearful, masculine, critical of masculinity, normal, over-the-top, SMILEY!?
Jack Nicholson is a favorite actor of the Wages of Cinema, and April will mark the 80th birthday of the iconic "Shark Grin" himself. But instead of simply doing a career overview of every single film, we took the nearly impossible task of narrowing FIVE films that Nicholson acted in that have left an impact on the world of cinema (and believe us, it was difficult, and we ended up mentioning others here and there as it happened). Jack (our Jack, not the Nicholson) also made a special "Overture" to begin the episode with a number of clips from films he's appeared and starred in.
And remember Jack's life motto: "More good times!"
The Films Discussed:
1) Bob Rafelson's FIVE EASY PIECES (1970) (also check out Episode *19.2* when Andrew watched it for the first time as part of 'The List')
2) Roman Polanski's CHINATOWN (1974)
3) Milos Forman's ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (1975) also check out Episode 38.4 where we talk about the film and its villain)
4) Tim Burton's BATMAN (1989)
5) Alexander Payne's ABOUT SCHMIDT (2002)
Clips in the opening montage:

A FEW GOOD MEN (1992)
THE SHINING (1980)
