How does this sound to you: an animated Spider-Man movie where it involves not just Peter Parker, but a) the new(ish) Spider-Man in the comics, Miles Morales, but also a whole host of other Spider-People (men and women, including an alternate universe Parker, Gwen Stacy, Nicolas Cage voicing Spider-Man *Noir*, and Peter PORKER, yes, you read that right), and the animation is pushing the boundaries of all animation?

Episode 122: BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (and Other Music Biopics) by Jack Gattanella

Sometimes things in cinema history, as in art and in politics and in life, don't repeat but they rhyme. A good question to posit now: is the new HALLOWEEN, which we have to distinguish between the other *two* films out there in the past forty years named that (perhaps they got scared off by adding names after Halloween after two particular dud entries in 95 and 2002 that we shall not name here - though we may get to it on this podcast), rhyming from the John Carpenter original? What made Carpenter's so excellent that it stuck out for people? How does it hold up?

In this episode, Jack and Korey look at the major inspiration - what David Gordon Green and Danny McBride have said is a direct sequel to the first movie - and the results of taking Jamie Lee Curtis and making her a ... bad-ass? Sure, why not?

What is a studio to do when they have the rights to a much beloved (very) 1990's comic book villain staple (co-created by none other than Todd MacFarlane - look at the guy, you can tell) BUT now the rights with Spider-Man - the one people kinda sorta *really* want to see - are sort of up in the air between one studio and another? When you got Tom Holland around as Peter Parker... what if you just don't, you know, use him and make your villain movie solo? But wait, what if you can get world-class actors like Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams (and maybe not quite world-class but still good ones like Riz Ahmed and Jenny Slate)?

Um...

WE don't know what was in their minds making this movie, but was it actually *good*? Special Guest Star Matthew Catania (of the blog Matt THE Catania, link below) joins Jack to discuss and dissect this weird symbiote of a Hollywood product. Oh, and up front with you all, the "turd in the wind" will be discussed up front.
