Red River Valley Fair General Manager, Cody Cashman dropped by the studio to talk about Blake Shelton and other events coming to this year's fair.  We had him stick around for an extra segment to play a little Think N Sync with us.  Scotch updated us on some of the new words added to the Webster's Dictionary and we try and help a mom out who is having trouble with dinner ideas for her family.

Is there an everyday item you use and you did not know it has a hidden feature?  We reveal a few mind blowing features on some everyday items we did not know about.  There is a man that is going to see how long he can go with just eating raw chicken.  Would you?  Scotch tries to stump Tank and Mandy with some famous quotes as we play Who Said That.

Do you use ice breaker questions when you are with someone new?  Mandy tries some out on the office staff.  Tank dazzled us all with some Random Facts and we tried to help a lady out when it comes to her husband's friend who always drinks too much and never knows when to leave.

Winemaker Notes

Ruby in color, concentrated aromas of bramble fruit, mint, cedar and graphite emerge and lead to a silky palate featuring jammy notes of blackberry and cherry cobbler accented by dried herbs and minerality flavors. The firm, rustic tannins and lively acidity frame the ample palate and the finish extends far beyond the sip.

A combination of determination and extraordinary people has brought Willamette Valley Vineyards from a bold idea to one of the region's leading wineries, earning the title "One of America's Great Pinot Noir Producers," from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

The “budwood” of Willamette Valley Vineyards began long before its founding in 1983 by vintner Jim Bernau. His Dad was hired by a California winemaker to secure the first winery license in Oregon since Prohibition. Jim’s Dad allowed him small tastes of Richard Sommer’s wine, lighting a path that led Jim from home winemaking to studies at UC Davis and eventually Beaune, France.

In 1983, Jim cleared away an old pioneer plum orchard in the Salem Hills and hand-watered his first plantings using 17 lengths of 75’ garden hose.

Jim's vision of organizing the support of wine enthusiasts to build a winery that would produce world-class wines through shared ownership has resulted in more than 16,000 owners. The winery's Common (WVVI) and Preferred (WVVIP) are traded on the NASDAQ. 

The winery sources all of its barrel-aged Pinot Noir from its estate vineyards and practices environmentally sustainable farming. All of the vineyards have been certified sustainable through LIVE (Low Impact Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon-Safe programs since 1997.

The Wake Up call had so much fun writing a new song through  Artificial Intelligence, we had to do another one.  Today's song dealt with Scotch, Tank and Mandy being three good friends who work in radio together.  What are some social obligations you hate going to?  Bridal and baby showers come to mind for some.  We wrap up today's show with a few rounds of Would You Rather.

This week's wine: Angeline Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Winemaker Notes

Crafted from cool-climate vineyards throughout California, their Sauvignon Blanc is full of green apple, kaffir lime and gooseberry, with hints of citrus blossom. Subtle golden kiwi and grapefruit pith linger with herbaceous notes and vibrant acidity throughout.

Bright and refreshing. Pairs well with tacos and salsa verde.
