This has been a wild week for the precious metals markets as the price of gold and silver soared Tuesday night with gold going over $1600 an ounce on the news of the Iran rocket attacks. But then on the next day gold fell back down and the GDX gold stock ETF fell over 4%.

Some are worrying that this is a sign of vicious manipulation. Others worry this is a sign of a major top. I discussed this with Jordon Roy-Byrne who runs www.thedailygold.com.

Growing tensions and strikes and counter strikes between the Trump administration and Iran is now dominating the headlines and making for added volatility in the financial markets with gold and silver and oil having some big opening swings the past few days.

I want to take a step back though with you. When it comes to investing and trading we must stick to the trends and charts. Is anything really changing in the markets? It might be, but not what many are expecting at all if it is. I talk about what I am watching and may even be buying in this podcast update.

In this stock market update I talk about the two key events to look for this week in the markets. The first is the Wednesday FOMC meeting. Such meetings often bring short-term volatility to the markets. The second is the upcoming Dec 15th trade deal deadline. There is no sign of a China/US trade deal and Trump said he would impose more tariffs on the 15th if no deal is made. Will he do that or kick the road down the road for past the election?

I also talked about how fear actually influences people's trading and investing decisions and how it will likely drive the markets in the final two weeks of this year by causing people to buy in fear and not sell in it like you might think.
