After escaping from Echo, our crew has made their way as upriver as they can before heading into heavy mushroom territory. Fred had a late night encounter with another mushroom-infected individual, who encouraged him not to completely destroy the mushrooms.

The commander of Echo has threatened the crew with execution and imprisonment due to them sneaking in, but the crew promised to help them with their food issue before leaving. Juliet has started to work with Lance on an antidote, and the crew now has an opportunity to speak with the person who ate the mushroom.

After escaping some giant river otters, the crew is suspicious of Lance once they heard that someone who might be Mal had escaped from Echo. After some investigating, they discover that they're probably close to Echo and decide to figure out how to get inside, but in the middle of the night Mal ambushes Juliet on watch.
