Recorded August 2018, so “next year” would be *this* year, 2019. In this episode we’re talking to Cullen Chen and Wesley Kwok from Nodus Watches of California, USA (https://www.noduswatches.com/). We’ll hear how their collaboration has its roots in music, what design cues makes a watch a “Nodus”, and some of the challenges microrbrands face in bringing their concepts to life. The audio on Chris’s side is a little muffled. We’re still dialing in the sound quality for future calls. Please bear with us as you watch with us.
Chris Vail is the founder of Janis Trading Company, established in 2012, makers of Lew & Huey and NTH Watches. Chris caused trouble as a medic (“Doc”) in the US Army from 1994 to 2000, then caused trouble in the financial services and software industries for the next 12 years. Now he causes trouble in the watch industry.
"Nodus is a boutique watch company based in Los Angeles. As a hub for innovation, creativity, and local production, Los Angeles serves as both our home and our inspiration. Much like the independent fashion labels that come from our hometown, our goal is to create an extraordinary product that stands on its own merits.
Nodus watches are designed and assembled in Los Angeles."
