El Olam: Trusting the Everlasting God Beyond the Horizon
Lesson 15 in the “Names of God” series focuses on El Olam, “the Everlasting God,” from Genesis 21:33, where Abraham plants a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba and calls on the Lord’s name.
Ps. Ryan explains that God reveals His names progressively through relationship and experience, then frames Abraham—about 130–137 years old, tired and facing conflict over a well—as encountering God as the One who outlasts time, sees beyond human limits, and stands beyond the “horizon” or vanishing point of our vision. El Olam gives faith to keep walking, planting, obeying, and worshiping even when promises feel delayed, outcomes are hidden, or the full harvest won’t be seen in one lifetime, because God holds tomorrow and works even in darkness and failure for His purpose.

August 10, 2026 Names of God (El Shaddai) Part 14
El Shaddai: God Is Enough and God Is the Limit (Genesis 17:1)
Teaching from Genesis 17:1, Ps. Ryan continues “Names of God, Part 14,” focusing on El Shaddai. He explains that El Shaddai means not only “God Almighty” but also “God is enough,” emphasizing surrender, reliance on God, and refusing idolatry of blessings or self-sufficiency. El Gibbor: The Mighty God Who Fights for You
In this sermon, Ps. Ryan explains El Gibbor (“El” = God, “Gibbor” = mighty) from Isaiah 9:6, noting it is the only biblical occurrence of “El Gibbor” and a prophecy of Jesus Christ.

Jehovah Nissi: The Lord Is My Banner (Exodus 17:8–11)
In this “Names of God” lesson #12, Ps. Ryan teaches on Jehovah Nissi (“The Lord is my banner”) from Exodus 17:8–11 and the battle with Amalek, where Israel prevailed when Moses’ hands were raised and faltered when they dropped, until Aaron and Hur supported him all day. He explains Amalek’s unfair attack on the weak and weary (Deuteronomy 25:17–18) as a picture of how the enemy targets vulnerable areas, often through subtle lies that create anxiety and exhaustion over long, unresolved struggles. The raised hands are presented not as magic power but as a fixed point that turns attention upward to God, urging believers to keep looking to Him, persevere, and seek community support. He connects the “banner” ultimately to Jesus as the lifted-up Savior (Isaiah 11:10; John 3:14–15).

“From Broken to Sent”
Pastor Ryan opens with Psalm 139:1–4 (KJV) to emphasize that God knows and cares for every detail of our lives. He teaches a five-step journey from brokenness to being sent:
1. Diagnosis—brokenheartedness met by El Roi, “the God who sees,” illustrated through Hagar in Genesis 16;
2. Interruption—Jehovah Shammah, “the Lord is there,” even in ruins like Ezekiel 48:35;
3. Restoration—Jehovah Rapha, the healer who binds wounds (Psalm 147:3) and sweetens bitter places (Exodus 15);

Jesus the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:1–6)
Ps Ryan teaches from John 14:1–6 where Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” emphasizing that this is not merely doctrine but Jesus Himself as the fulfillment of Jewish categories: halakha (the way), emet (truth), and chayim (life). Ps. Ryan contrasts modern Christianity’s split between faith and daily life with a lived, relational walk with Christ, urging believers to stay close to the Shepherd rather than chase religious systems, rules, or special moments. He explains “progressive revelation,” arguing Scripture is God-breathed through imperfect people and that God’s revelation moves toward its perfect expression in Jesus, using examples like slavery and treatment of women. I am the Good Shepherd
Pastor Ryan teaches that God provides fully, but believers must choose to desire Him (“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,” Psalm 23:1). Using the “valley of the shadow of death” imagery, he says the shepherd doesn’t reroute the sheep; the daily habit of walking with the shepherd prepares them to pass through darkness with God’s presence (Psalm 23:4). He contrasts “I will fear no evil” with never feeling fear, calling believers to keep walking even afraid. I Am the Good Shepherd: Psalm 23 and John 10.
Ps. Ryan continues the “Names of God” series by connecting Exodus 3:14 (“I AM”) with Jesus’ declaration in John 10:11-16 that He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep, bringing both Israel and Gentiles into one flock. Using Psalm 23:1-4, it explains that “The Lord (Yahweh) is my shepherd” is God’s promise to provide, while “I shall not want” is the believer’s response to desire God above His gifts, rejecting a “vending machine” faith. Ps. Ryan emphasizes worship and commitment rather than church-hopping, and teaches that the Shepherd makes sheep rest, leads them to green pastures and still waters, and restores “cast” sheep through patient, protective care. Abba Father: From Orphan Spirit to Adopted Sonship
