This Sunday we continue our meditation on the sacraments by following the story of scripture into the Gospels.

In baptism, we experience God's Spirit hovering over our chaos, calling us out of it into new life.

In the Lord's Supper, we remember God's long desire to commune with us, share a meal, and provide for us.

In the beginning, God brought forth the heavens and earth from watery chaos as a new creation. Eden was planted and watered by God. Every breath was communion with God. Every meal and drink was enjoyed in God's presence. Life in Eden was thoroughly sacramental. What God has done once, God can do again.

As a community, one of our core values is experiencing God together through the sacraments. While a limited understand of them in no way inhibits what God can do through them, a theologically healthier understanding helps us to more fully experience what God has been doing in us through them the whole time. The more we are aware of what God is doing, the more we can actively and consciously participate in it and experience it!
