Wow... it's amazing how much nicer "normal temperatures" feel like after being pummeled with almost three weeks of arctic air! Until yesterday (Sunday), the last time we experienced a 32°F high temperature was briefly on February 12th and all the way back to on February 5th. The medium and long range "teleconnections" are now pointing to a return to the progressive pattern with only a few modest pushes of cold air into the Great Lakes. One year ago on February 14th, a new radio station powered up in the greater Cleveland area. WKJA, 91.9 FM started serving NEOhio. Those of you who live in Ohio are likely aware of the friendly voice of Mark Zimmerman. He and co-host Gabrielle Speaks host the morning program (5:30 AM to 9:00 AM Eastern US time, M-F). We had a wonderful "happy anniversary" segment on the air this morning, so I thought it would be fun to re-release that segment that aired at 8:30 AM this morning for Open Line Friday!

While most of NEOhio looks out the window and makes plans to enjoy the wintry weather, Freddie Zeigler from the National Weather Service Cleveland office is preparing for spring and summer severe weather season. He is coordinating the Skywarn program that will train anyone who is interested how to spot and report weather issues as we approach severe thunderstorm season.
