The Weeds Will Grow

Listen Later

What is self- governance?

Mark Herr, at Center for Self Governance, has been on a journey for the past 15 years learning what it means to be self-governed. Why it’s so important for people to understand how to self-govern; what the different types of self-governance are; and how we can keep individual thoughts and beliefs while still working together as one country.

Mark’s studies have brought him to discover there are 4 different types of "self" views:

* The original patchwork of colonies: a belief in a higher power that influenced the making of our country.

* No belief in a higher power.

* Humans are the highest power.

* Every living organism has a soul/conscience.

So how do these different views affect our day-to-day life? Is it possible for all these views to coexist? Is one view better than the others?

Perhaps these thoughts and ideas are nothing new to you but for me (and I would guess for others as well) many of these ideas were very foreign and, to be blunt, crazy!How could someone honestly believe that a body of water should have the same rights as a human being??

Then again, since we live in a world where most value is often determined by what each person decides and not by the Truth, should I really be shocked by these “crazy” ideas?

For many of us in “fly-over” states it’s easy to think what happens on the coasts won’t hit us here. But that thinking is very dangerous and detrimental to the way of life many of us cherish.

Talking with Mark I’m reminded once again that without Christ and His Word guiding our daily lives our nation will continue to fall apart. As John Adams so wisely said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.”

I hope you will take some time to hear Mark’s heart and passion. And then I’d love to hear from you! What do you think about his 4 views of self-governance?

You can contact Mark at the Center For Self Governance on their website, Facebook, X, Youtube, and all the others!
