Change doesn’t always arrive with a grand announcement. Sometimes it appears in the products we’ve always used, the music we listen to, the way people work, or the traditions that tell us a new season has begun—even when it’s still 101 degrees outside.
For their 50th episode, Mac and Rhoni follow those everyday changes through work, home, music, pets, chili, cornbread, and the unexpected seasons of life.
It’s a relaxed conversation about paying attention, learning as we go, and remembering that a change in direction doesn’t mean we’ve missed our opportunity.

A rough start to the week, a lesson about staying on course, two unexpected friendships, and a pair of chocolate-chip cookies that meant far more than they should have.
A tax bill. A mystery leak under the truck. Not exactly the way you want to start the week. But Forrest Frank’s “OKAY!” gives Mac and Rhoni a place to begin — with gratitude, perspective, and the reminder that one rough morning does not get the last word.
They also talk about the increasingly blurry line between country and contemporary Christian music, including Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson’s “The Jesus I Know Now,” before the conversation turns toward Rhoni’s week at the Southwest Believers’ Convention in Fort Worth.
The word that stayed with her was access: how willing are we to let God lead, correct, and make the small course adjustments that keep us from drifting one or two degrees off? That idea becomes very personal when Rhoni tells the story of going to the convention alone, meeting Inobe in a bookstore, being invited to lunch by a stranger named Barbara, and receiving two chocolate-chip cookies with a meaning neither woman could have planned.
Then, because a Weekend Joyride cannot stay misty-eyed forever, Mac and Rhoni finish with the Blue Bridge Boys — a very young, very talented bluegrass group that has Rhoni’s Texas roots tapping.

A few days away leave Mac and Rhoni thinking about what needs care, what needs cutting back, and what deserves to be carried forward.
------------------------------------------------------
A few days away left us with more than souvenirs.
A traditional Hot Springs experience, a dramatic change back home, and an unexpected family gift opened one larger conversation: How do we recognize what needs to be released—and what deserves to be preserved?
This Weekend Joyride moves from laughter to spiritual reflection to a deeply personal reminder that the past cannot tell its own story. Along the way, we consider healthy pruning, renewed thinking, and the small act that can reconnect a family with someone they loved.
This week’s challenge: Cut back one thing that is crowding your life. Then restore, identify, and share one meaningful photograph or memory.

America at 250, fresh eyes on freedom, and the responsibility to carry it forward.
In this episode of The Weekend Joyride, Mac and Rhoni celebrate Independence Day weekend by looking at freedom through fresh eyes.
The conversation begins with soccer and a personal story about Aiden, a young man whose character has impressed them even more than his accomplishments. That story opens the door to a larger conversation about America, gratitude, and what visitors from around the world are noticing as they experience the United States.
From Buc-ee’s and free refills to friendly strangers and American flags, Mac and Rhoni talk about the everyday things that can become easy to overlook when you live with them all the time.
Then the episode turns toward the deeper foundation of freedom. Political freedom is a gift, but spiritual freedom is found in Christ. And both require gratitude, responsibility, character, and stewardship.

This week on The Weekend Joyride, Mac and Rhoni start with something light: coffee.
Good coffee. Colombian coffee. Cold coffee. Coffee standards. Possibly coffee snobbery.
But from there, the conversation turns toward a word that can make some Christians uncomfortable: prosperity.
Not greed. Not showing off. Not money having your heart.
Mac and Rhoni talk about biblical blessing, generosity, provision, peace, purpose, family, and what it means to be blessed so that blessing can flow through you. They also reflect on Leanna Crawford’s “How Can You Not,” Patrick Mayberry’s “Watch What God Can Do,” the rich young ruler, and the difference between discernment and becoming a professional critic.
At the heart of the episode is this thought: prosperity is bigger than a bank account. It is the goodness of God touching every area of life.
Blessed people becoming a blessing.

Why goodness keeps showing up, even after everything.
What do flower beds, summer reading, survival stories, Pentecost, and a worship song have in common?
For Mac and Rhoni this week, they all pointed back to the same reminder:
Goodness is still here.
In this episode of The Weekend Joyride, the conversation moves from the ordinary rhythms of summer into a bigger reflection on why people keep helping, rebuilding, forgiving, and carrying hope through dark seasons.
Mac and Rhoni talk about the kind of goodness that shows up after tragedy, the quiet courage found in history, the compassion people showed during COVID, and the local helpers who become living proof that light still has a presence in the world.
They also spend time talking about Pentecost and the Holy Spirit — not as a distant church topic, but as the reason believers are equipped to carry light into everyday life.
The episode closes with Rhoni’s music breakdown of Chandler Moore and Elevation Worship’s “God, I’m Just Grateful,” a song that lands this conversation in worship, gratitude, and the steady faithfulness of God.

This week on The Weekend Joyride, Mac and Rhoni are talking about why people seem to be craving “real” again.
Real books. Real conversations. Real memories. Real places. Real rest.
Inspired in part by Phil Wickham’s song “Hometown,” this episode turns into a thoughtful and personal conversation about familiar roads, grief, healing, church seasons, Pastor Ray, little escapes, summer reading, baseball cards, grounding, gardens, and the God who still knows how to surprise us.
Mac and Rhoni reflect on why shallow things do not help much when life hurts — and why ordinary things may matter more than we realize.
Maybe people want real again because real is where God has been meeting us all along.
This week, take the long way home and let God surprise you.

Mac and Rhoni talk Kentucky Derby excitement, comeback moments, and what happens when life starts moving again.
From a dramatic final stretch run at Churchill Downs to launching a long-discussed boutique dream, this episode is about momentum — and the surprising way faith often begins with one small step forward.
Along the way, the conversation turns toward Kentucky revival history, the Red River and Cane Ridge meeting houses, spiritual awakening in America, and the idea that sometimes the track opens up right when you decide to move.

Ever feel like you should be further along by now?
In this episode of The Weekend Joyride, Mac and Rhoni talk honestly about the gap between the life we imagined and the life we’re actually living. From quiet regrets to unexpected turns, this conversation explores what it means to trust that your story isn’t off track—even when it feels like it is.
Along the way, a simple (and slightly overanalyzed) movie moment turns into a powerful reminder: life moves in seasons. Some feel like things are falling apart. Some feel still and uncertain. But that doesn’t mean the story is over.
If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re behind in life… this episode is for you.

Sometimes the things that mean the most to us… are the things we didn’t recognize at the time.
In this episode of The Weekend Joyride, Mac and Rhoni reflect on growing up in San Saba and how places that once felt ordinary now feel like treasures.
From longtime favorites like Pecan House Grill and Harry's Boots, to stories of vision, legacy, and the independent spirit of the West, they explore how perspective changes over time—and how some people can see value long before anyone else does.
Along the way, the conversation is framed by the spirit of the West you hear in stories like Lonesome Dove—where people move toward something they believe in long before it fully exists.
That idea leads to something deeper: what if that same principle applies to our lives and our faith?
What if the treasure isn’t somewhere out there…
but has been there all along?
This episode is about slowing down, listening more closely, and learning to see what’s already right in front of you.
