One simple philosophy defines the Hayley Joy collections...REAL shapes and sizes, for REAL women, in the REAL world.
My life’s passion has been to make a difference in the lives of the forgotten women. As a woman of size myself, I have lived the humiliation of shopping for fashion that fits, or actually, that doesn’t.
They say that your own pain, is your customers biggest gain, and knowing what I had encountered, in my quest to find a brand that honoured me as a woman and not as a size, has enabled me to design fashion that REALLY fits.
I knew that upsizing regular sizes was the norm and the wrong norm. Together with my production team, we took me and measured me in 5cm increments, from my neck down. I then plotted those measurements and so the Hayley Joy, genuine Plus size block, was created. From there we graded up to a genuine 7XL and down to a Size inclusive S.
We design and manufacture, all our own collections, in our factory in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I discovered a passion for iPhone photography and iPhone design apps, which has led me to be designing exclusive fabric collections for the Hayley Joy brand. It has been a very inspiring journey and being able to design prints and colours, that Plus size women have never had access to, (because remember, they’re forgotten), is a defining moment in my career.
I work with a wonderful team of women and one man 😉 who inspire me to keep pushing the boundaries of size inclusive fashion, because they get my vision of producing beautifully made fashion, that enables women of all shapes and sizes, to feel honoured.
We are committed to honouring shape, because we don’t really do size at Hayley Joy.
I don’t consider going to Hayley Joy as a job, I view it as my playground, because I am inspired daily, by what is possible, when you’re committed to changing lives.
It’s been a 35 year journey and as we set out to scale the business, I feel like I’m just starting.
