It’s some of the big news around Cincinnati… Copper and Flame is closing its doors. It opens up a big conversation about “pour your own beer” bars and why some of us don’t really like them. We touch on everything from interaction with other people, and tipping culture.

Of course… that’s not all the news from Cincy – both Braxton and Listermann have some big taproom changes happening, and we have to talk about that.

All the while, you know there’s a tasty beer in my glass – tonight, I’m sipping on Rhinegeist’s Sabro Express, a collaboration with Deschutes. It’s really good, too… spoiler alert.

I don’t actually know what it means to be “country style” – especially when it comes to an Oktoberfest beer… but we drink one. I also let everyone on the live stream reply to my Mom’s text messages, so that’s pretty interesting.

I have a theory that you can always be “on vacation” if you let yourself… it’s more of a state of mind than anything else. A quick weekend away reminded me of that this week. To celebrate this week’s “vacation” I figured I’d crack open a couple of pickle beers and call it a night!

I’m a little crazy about Oktoberfest beers, so when they finally start reappearing on shelves, I get pretty excited. It also means that the Great OktoberfestQuest showdown returns. With this, we attempt to find my favorite Oktoberfest beer in the city every year.

It’s actually a lot harder than you’d think it would be!

Anchor Brewing Company was the first… they helped kick off a movement that became craft beer as we know it. It makes it a little strange and painful as they announce their closure this week. We like to hit it all on this show, though… painful or not.

To keep things lighthearted and fun, we also had to talk about the upcoming Oktoberfest season here in Cincinnati, and some new brewery news.

I spent the weekend drinking some lagers down at Northern Row’s Lagerfest, and it got me pretty excited to talk this week about what’s happening in Cincy Beer. There’s a lot to cover too! New breweries are coming, some are open, and that is always awesome!

It’s a holiday week, and to celebrate the Fourth of July, I went live a little early with the podcast. In this episode, we talk a lot about the Fourth, what we’re drinking to celebrate it, and why it’s ALL important to keep stocked in the cooler.

I’ve been really busy the last few weeks, which in addition to being chaotic… means that now that we’re finally putting a new episode together, we should probably drink a cocktail (right? My friends over at Truth, Beer, Podsequences (Marco and Julia) have been talking about Negronis a little lately. Let’s drink it!

We head over to the bar to mix up a Negroni and an Americano. and they were both delicious!

You hear it from all your friends… there’s a craft beer “bubble,” or no one cares when new breweries open anymore. You might even start to believe it. However, as Fabled Brew Works opens its doors this week, we see it in action. Folks are excited about new breweries still, and I am flippin’ excited. It’s ok for you to be too!
