In this weeks episode I nose dive into one of my favourite topics - the Scales. The scales has the power to influence our perceptions of our progress so it is very important to understand and build rationale with the machine. The number on the scales can lead to a psychological impact in terms low mood, motivation and feelings of failure if expectations are not met. This impact can then cause emotional eating in response to the number given.
In this episode I cover things like how to understand and use the scales correctly, build a better relationship to the scales by understanding the fluctuations, how to detach any emotional response to the scales and to remind you that a number on a machine on the floor does not define you. It is a data point but it does not measure all your progress. I talk about the variables that can influence the scales like sleep, stress, hormones to name a few. I talk about non scales victories that should be acknowledged and appreciated far more than a number.
