God's promise is realized through the coming of Christ.  Through the promise of a Messiah, we catch a glimpse into the perfect commitment God has to his creation.  The promise may seem obvious to us, but it wasn't to the Pharisees and Sadducees; the religious elite of their day.  Were they stupid?  Were they full of hate?  Or did they simply fall into the same trap so many of us fall into of thinking we understand the scriptures far better than we really do?

God has perfect timing.  It may not be the timing we want or expect, but it's perfect.  We can see this clearly when we look at the nativity.  From the historical events taking place in the years prior to and during the birth of Christ to the contextual timing of scriptural events which laid the groundwork for Christ's ministry, we can see God working in the lives of Jews, Gentiles, believers, and "heathens" all so that His Will can be achieved.
