We will be getting back to Hebrews 8 and the beauty of the new covenant in the weeks to come, but today, I wanted to pause to allow us to get a bit of footing established as we may be reeling from the new that Roe v. Wade, the law of the land for nearly fifty years, may be overturned. Wow. What this really means will become more clear as the days, months, years and decades go by, but make no mistake, this is one of the most important events that we will see in our lifetime.

Many people have determined that they are able to handle their own salvation. They believe that they are good enough to handle it. They believe that they have the inherent goodness to accomplish the task of personal redemption. We do not possess this ability. Period. We must recognize the need we have for our Savior.

The book of Hebrews is meat and potatoes, though. It is a full-course meal, full of nutrition, healthy calories and just the right blend of vitamins and minerals. Like a good meal, it will sustain us longer make us stronger and satisfy us more fully.

The opening sentence in Hebrews 2 reminds us that we have to habitually return to the truths of the Gospel by which we were saved. We are to constantly tune our hearts to God. Like any stringed instrument, we will lose our tuning as a natural course of our lives. We must consistently return to the standard, message and person of our Christ.
